Sri Achyutha Ashtakam by Sri Adishankaracharya – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is personified as Lord Achyutha, Oh! Hare, he is the super soul/Paramathman dwells as Prana in the Jeevathma, he is personified as Rama and Krishna as well, he is flawless among men/Purushoththama, he is supreme Lord Vishnu, he is Lord Vasudeva who is unconquerable, he is not perceivable through senses, he is the consort of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi/Sripathi, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Vishnu to destroy our miseries and sorrows.  I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is the provider of auspiciousness to the Universe and its living beings, Oh! Vibho, he is the Lord of the Universe, he is personified as the son of Nandagopa, he is manifested as Nrusimha and Indhra among the kings/Rama, he is the provider of liberation from repeated births, he is Mukunda/liberator from repeated births, and he is Murari/slayer of demon Mura, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.   I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is personified as Lord Ramachandra, superior among the clan of Raghu, he is the Lord of distressed people, he disperses the sufferings of living beings, he is personified as Lord Krishna who is the commander of Yadhava clan, he is the superior gem of Yadhu clan, he symbolizes fire sacrifices, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.  I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is the son of Devaki, he dispels the sorrows of his ardent devotees, he is the darling of Radhikarani, he takes immense joy in the company of young maidens of Vraja, he dispels the sorrows of his devotees, he is compassionate and protector of the living beings, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.  I shall meditate upon Lord Krishna, who is the luster of the moon to the lotus-like faces of cowherds of Vraja, he is eternal, he is untouched by Thriguna, he is unblemished, he is unconquerable, he is flawless,  he is omnipresent, he is the provider of auspiciousness, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.  I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is personified as Lord of Vrajabhoomi/Gokulesha, he protected the entire Vrajamandal by elevating Mount Govardhana, he is valorous, he finds immense joy in exploring on the banks of river Yamuna, his lotus feet is worshiped by Maharishi Narada and Rishis, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows. I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is personified as Lord Krishna who is the ruler of sacred city Dwaraka, he is the safest ferry to cross the perils in the world of Samsara, he dwells as Prana in all the living beings, he is flawless, he liberates the soul from repeated births, he is the symbol of wisdom and virtues, he is absolute Bhramam, Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.  I shall meditate upon Lord Vishnu who is Padmanabha,  he is Lord of the Universe, he is compassionate, and he is the destroyer of wicked people, he is the destroyer of Ravana, he is charismatic, he is the slayer of demon Murari,  Oh! Sripathe, kindly eradicate our miseries and sorrows.


The above-sacred verses of Achyuthashtakam is highly propitious to remove miseries and sorrows, whoever reads or listen would be relieved from worldly bondage and distress.
