Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho Oh! Karunamaya, have you abandoned your promise to your devotees? You are Pathithapavan/Pathithaudhdharan, you are the savior of the distressed souls who are drenched in worldly matters of possession, richness, money, fame, wealth, children, wife, companions, and relatives of fleeting nature, and constantly throwing themselves to three kinds of grief. Oh! Prabho, I am a grave sinner I did not practice devotion and pure love at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari, thus wasted the three important phases of life soaked in worldly matters, driven afar from you while chasing after Mrigathrishna, ultimately people like me lost their chances to attain the four Purusharththa/Dharma/righteousness, Arthth/wealth to perform righteous deeds, Kama/desire to perform the righteous deeds, and ultimately achieve the Moksha/liberation from repeated births, I have refused to follow the precious advice of Santh Mahathma and noble souls. Oh! Prabho, I want to get rid of this dirty old rag like the impurities of my mind such as lust, desire, ego, pride, jealousy, anger, Ahamkara, and Mamakara with the water that resembles sing in praise of your glories, I am unfortunate, I have wasted my entire life attached to worldly matters, and finally reached the later years of age, now I have no interest or health to follow the austerities and disciplines. Oh! Prabho, if you look at the Karmas/deeds of mine, kindly do not get infuriated, I have no courage to explain the wicked deeds I have committed. Oh! Prabho, it is certain that I am a distressed soul, and you are the savior of the distressed, kindly listen to my cries, and liberate me from the sufferings of worldly existence and repeated births.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Keshav, Oh! Sri Govind, whoever sang in praise of your glories and remembered your sacred names achieved your supreme abode, they have got liberated from the sufferings of worldly existence and repeated births. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Lord of mercy/ Karunanidhan, you have never discouraged your devotees with your presence to their cries, you eagerly rush to reach out to your devotees in trouble, you have no specific time to serve your devotees, you are ever prepared to protect your devotees, you just wait for their call. Oh! Prabho, you have not set time or people to meet you, and you are impartial to your devotees, the Bhramin Ajamila was a grave sinner like me, I had a conversation with him before he left for your abode. What would I speak about other sinners? They too whispered into my ears before they left for your blissful abode. Oh! Prabho, you have liberated Gheedh/Pakshiraj Jatayu, Byadh/hunter, and Ganika, but you  have forgotten to add my name to that list of sinners, hence I am preparing the fresh list of sinners including my name too so that I can get released from the grief of worldly existence and repeated birth as well.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – The significance of the practice of devotion and the recitation of Sri Ramanama

Chapter – 249-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The significance of the practice of devotion and the recitation of Sri Ramanama

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are Pathiththa Pavan/savior of the distressed souls, the Veda and scriptures highly praise this nature, hence I have taken shelter at your lotus feet. If you have any apprehension “ Did I liberate any grave sinner?’ I can produce the witnesses before you. The twice-born Ajamila who abandoned the Vedic way of living, elderly parents, and family and went to live with a prostitute in the forest, finally on his deathbed cried out for his younger son ‘Narayana’, thus he got liberated from the grief, none could stop him to attain your supreme abode. Oh!~ Prabho, the prostitute/Ganika did she take up any austerities, and vows? During her later years of age, she took care of a parrot bought from the devotee of Lord Sri Hari, merely listening to the recitation of Sri Ramanama, and she got liberated from grief. Oh! Prabho, the elephant Gajendra who fought with the crocodile that seized on his leg, cried out for you before he could think of anything, the crocodile got liberated, and eventually Gajendra too. Oh! Prabho, the demon Poothana arrived in Gokul disguised as a beautiful young lady, she fed you with her poisonous bosom milk, and ultimately, she achieved the supreme abode, equal to Devi Yasodha. Oh! Prabho, the Veda describes your compassion to Gheedh/Jatayu, Byadh/hunter, Vrishabasur, and many demons who approached you intending to take away your life were got liberated from the grief of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, the wicked Dhusshasan seized Devi Dhraupadhi on her hair and brought her before the large assembly and began to remove her clothes, Devi Dhraupadhi cried out “Dwarakadheesh’, immediately you have blessed her with an abundance of clothes on her body, thus you have protected Devi Dhraupadhi and crushed the pride of Dhusshasan. Oh! Damodar, you got tied to the mortal pastel by Devi Yasodha, you ripped off the huge Yamalarjjuna tree and removed the curse on Lord Kubera's children, and liberated them. Oh! Prabho, which deity will embrace the sufferings and troubles on behalf of his devotees/servants? Oh! Prabho, the wicked Duryodhana assigned Maharishi Dhurvass along with his thousands of disciples to visit the hermitage of Pandavas for a meal during their exile from Hastinapura. Devi Dhraupadhi found nothing to serve the Rishi and his disciples, she anxiously prayed to Lord Krishna, and soon Lord Krishna reached out for their help, by merely consuming the tiny particle of green from the pitcher, you have removed the hunger of Rishi and his disciples, everyone got pleased and left the place, he might have scared of the Sudharshana Chakra. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Giridhari, Oh! Shyamsundhar, Lord Indra was annoyed at the worship of mount Govardhan, he flooded the entire Vraja with the heavy downpour, you elevated Mount Govardhan on your little finger for seven days, and protected the cows, cowherds, and the people of Vraja.”

Oh! Prabho, I have not practiced devotion or worship of your lotus feet, I did not sing in praise of your glorious legends, or I did not observe austerities, Japa, Thapa, Dhyanam, Dhaya, Dhanam, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Ahimsa, Astheyam, Arjjavam, Swadhyaya, celibacy, etc. Oh! Sri Hari, I have been soaked in material and physical pleasures, thereby hurling into the different wombs as Airborn, water-born, and Earthborn, and getting attached to the body I have assumed, eventually pushing into constant grief and agony of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, I have performed countless auspicious, inauspicious, and a mixture of both kinds of Karma/actions, the emissaries of Lord Yama beating me to death counting the evil Karmas performed while living in each body, in fact, the emissaries too bored of watching me keep hurling into different Yonis and performing wicked deeds and ending up in the hell. Chapter – 240-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The practice of devotion to achieve the four Purusharththa/righteousness, wealth, desires, and liberation from worldly existence

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, I have been drenched in the worldly matters of infinite nature, hence I have driven afar from you, my greed compelled me to worship demi-gods for fulfilling my desires, but sadly I did not satisfy even after gratifying my senses, I have been desperate and continued to chase after the material and physical pleasures and performed religious rites and duties for the accomplishment of my desires which have grown out of control. The demi-gods were difficult to please, I sacrificed animals to please the deity, but I did not achieve the desired result, later I found it was an absolute waste of time and energy, and eventually, I stopped the worship of demi-gods. Oh! Prabho, I have been swollen with pride, anger, jealousy, ego, lust, and desire, hence I have abandoned the Parasmani/the precious gem which turns the metal into gold, like the sacred names of Lord Sri Hari, and I was wandering aimlessly for the broken glass pieces like the worship of demi-gods. Oh! Prabho, you are the source of four Purusharththa/Dharma-righteousness/Arththa-wealth/Kama-desire/ and Moksha/liberation from worldly existence and repeated births, I have abandoned the supreme Lord Sri Hari and rushed to please my senses, got attached to worldly matters of possession, wealth, money, richness, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, of fleeting nature, finally, whatever I have got too attached to were either abandoned me or I had to leave them all.  Oh! The woman Kubja with three visible curves on her body affectionately approached you with the sandalwood paste, and she smeared the rich fragrant sandal paste on your marvelous body, in return you have removed her deformity and transformed her into a mesmerizing beauty. Oh! Prabho, you have protected Devi Dhraupadhi from the large assembly of Kaurava by providing an abundance of clothes, thus crushing the pride of Dhussasan. Oh! Prabho, you have killed the dreadful ten-headed demon Ravan in the fierce battle and crowned  Vibheeshan the younger brother of Ravana as the King of Lanka. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you have provided the highest status of ‘pole star’ to Dhruva, your child devotee. Oh! Sri Hari, you have incarnated for the welfare of your devotees, why did you abandon me? I am helpless and ignorant, I have no one to protect me other than you. I have already taken shelter at your lotus feet, kindly protect me from the sufferings of worldly existence.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – Samsarasagra/The worldly existence resembles a bottomless ocean, and the attachment to worldly matters symbolizes dreadful ocean creatures

Chapter – 238-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Samsarasagra/The worldly existence resembles a bottomless ocean, and the attachment to worldly matters symbolizes dreadful ocean creatures

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, I am helpless, I can’t cross the ocean of worldly existence, and I was ignorant and careless I was following the pathways of Ajamila, the Bhramin who abandoned elderly parents, family, and Vedic way of living for a prostitute in the forest, Ganika who was isolated in the later years of age was taken care of a parrot bought from the house of a devotee of Lord Vishnu, after watching them got liberated from the sufferings of worldly existence, I have chosen to be Adharmic, committed sins by words, mind, and deed. I have been drenched in infinite appearance, sound, smell, touch, and passion, Alas! I did not get satisfied yet, the happiness from those material and physical pleasures was momentary. I was drowning in the worldly matters of fleeting nature, that pushed me into extreme agony and pain. Oh! Prabho, this Samsarasagara/worldly existence is bottomless, I did not even see the seaside, how did I cross it? I have no hope that I would cross it? Oh! Prabho, mere utterance of your sacred name is the safest ferry to cross the ocean of worldly existence, unfortunately, I did not practice devotion, or worship at your lotus feet, hence I repeatedly drowned in the bottomless ocean of worldly existence. My increased interest in worldly matters shoveled me into deep distress and agony, even though my interest in them hasn’t faded yet. Oh! Prabho, whenever I get hurt while drowning in the Samsarasagara, others applauded with great enthusiasm and made me a laughingstock. Oh! Prabho, I have no one to protect me, I am still drowning yearningly watching at your lotus feet which is the safest ferry to cross the ocean of worldly existence and Thapathraya. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, kindly shower your compassionate grace upon me, and protect me from drowning in the bottomless ocean of worldly existence.”

Chapter – 237-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The soul is eternal and takes birth according to the attributes of three kinds/virtuous, beastly and dull

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho,  Oh! Dheenadhayala Oh! Devamani, I have taken several births in different wombs as Earthborn, water-born, and air born, and I have adapted that body I lived, and danced to your tunes. In each birth, I have lived in the body with immense lust, desire, ego, jealousy, pride, anger, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, drenched in worldly matters, chasing after material and physical pleasures, I have committed several sins each birth according to the attributes of Sathvik/virtuous, Rajasik/demonic, and Thamasik/inertia. Oh! Prabho, my virtuous attributes encouraged me to practice meditation, contemplation, worship of Lord Sri Hari, observe austerities, vows, celibacy, Swadhyaya, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Dhaya, Dhanam, Ahimsa, Arjjavam, etc. and the beastly and dull nature of mine destroyed the pieties earned, due to my chase for the worldly matters of possession, richness, fame, wealth, children, wife, companion and relatives of fleeting nature.   Oh! Prabho, after witnessing all those, you haven’t been pleased with me, why are you putting me on the test again and again? Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari kindly affirms “ Leave your worries, and do not hurl yourself in different wombs I shall liberate you from the sufferings of worldly existence.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – The impurities of mind drive away truthfulness, righteousness, kindness, discipline and austerities

Chapter – 236-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –The impurities of mind drive away truthfulness, righteousness, kindness, discipline and austerities

Sri Suradas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, I am drenched in worldly matters of infinite sound, appearance, touch, passion, and smell. I have married an intolerable and wicked woman like an impure mind drenched in lust, desire, ego, anger, jealousy, pride, Ahamkara, and Mamakara. The Dharma/righteousness and Sathya/truthfulness resemble my parents, I have driven them off with my wickedness. The wisdom/Gnana and knowledge/Vigyana/Vichara are my brothers, I have created enmity with them too. The kindness/Dhayaroopi resemble my sister, I have fought with them, and they ran away with fear. The disciplines/Sheela and Santhosham/happiness are my friends, I have befriended them too. The Kapat/deceitfulness and Lobh/wickedness are the two brothers of Asharoopi /lustful wicked woman whom I have married, and these two brothers have taken complete control of my house.  These two awful brothers have expanded their kingdom with their two sisters Thrishna/illusion and Dheenatha/pity. Oh! Prabho, the wicked lustful woman/desire/ is shameless, atrocious, inauspicious, and is wandering all over the Samsara, she is still young and never gets tired of visiting the homes of others, I have reached the later years of age, my limbs are fragile, my senses are weak, my movements are restricted, my limbs are cooperating with the mind. Oh! Prabho, my desires are endless, although I have reached the later years of age my desire for worldly matters has not faded, my senses are not satisfied yet. I have committed several sins married to the Asharoopi woman/DESIRE, and often pushed myself into extreme grief and agony, and it brought disgrace to me. Oh! Prabho, I am helpless to protect myself from the attachment to worldly matters, none of them could provide permanent bliss, either I get bored of them, or they get bored of me, hence I have constantly thrown into Thapathraya/three kinds of grief. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, why are you laughing at me? Kindly remove the sufferings of worldly existence.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – The attachment to worldly matters would bring extreme grief

Chapter – 235-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –The attachment to worldly matters would bring extreme grief

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are Bhakthavathsala/you are fervent to your devotees, you have liberated the elephant Gajendra from the troubles from the water, and you have protected the entire Braja, cowherds, cows, from the heavy downpour by elevating the Mount Govardhan. Oh! Prabho, Devi Dhraupadhi was humiliated in the large assembly of Kauravas, she cried “Oh! Sri Hari, I am helpless, I am an orphan, I have no one to protect me, the wicked Dhussasan removing my clothes, kindly protect me from disgrace.” Oh! Prabho Sri Hari you did not wait for a second, you have showered an abundance of clothes and protected her. Oh! Prabho, you have encouraged Bhimsen to fight against the wicked demon Jarasandha who harassed the demons and imprisoned several kings. Jarasandha was killed in the fierce fight, and you have liberated the Kings, and the wives of the Kings sung in praise of your glories. Oh! Prabho,  Oh! Dheenabandho, kindly protect your vows to your devotees. You have protected your devotee King Ambareesha from the wrath of Maharishi Dhurvassa who was chased by your fierce Chakra/disc. Sage Dhurvassa invoked the dreadful Krithya to kill King Ambareesha and she met her end by the disc. Oh! Prabho, you have crushed the pride of Dhuryodhan, you have accepted his invitation and met him as an emissary of Pandava, you have refused to accept the meal offered by him and went straight to the home of Vidura and happily accepted the peel of bananas that was offered with extreme love and affection by Vidurani in oversight. Oh! Prabho, how did you forget this helpless, and distraught devotee of you? I have committed several sins by words, mind, and deed, chasing after the worldly matters of possession, wealth, richness, fame, money, wife, children, relatives, and companion, I have wasted the precious life of a human chasing after worldly matters of fleeting nature. Oh! Vanamali, Oh! Prabho, Oh! Bhagavan, kindly liberate me from the three kinds of grief/Thapathraya, and repeated births.”

Chapter – 234-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Jeeva/soul/Athman is not independent to act, speak, or think

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, the Jeeva is not independent to act, think or speak, you are the supreme soul that resides as Prana/vital air in the Jeeva, you are the source of the functioning of the mind, intellect, Chitta, Ahamkara, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas, etc. hence whether the Jeeva is evil or noble, ultimately, it’s yours, therefore the grace and disgrace of the Jeeva would please or displease you too. Oh! Prabho, kindly listen to my cries, I have abandoned my interest in worldly matters and taken shelter at your lotus feet, I have no intention to leave your feet, I have a firm belief and faith in you, hence I am fearless and free from anxiousness. Oh! Prabho, I am your sincere servant, I have stopped the worship of demi-gods to fulfill my desires because I have achieved the grace of the Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam.”

Chapter – 233-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The soul is permanent and the worldly matters are impermanent

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are the absolute truth, and safest asylum, you are the Lord of the Universe and its living and non-living things, I have already surrendered at your lotus feet, I have no place to seek shelter other than you. Oh! Prabho, you are the wish-fulfilling Kamadhenu, the divine cow, so why should I leave you and get a goat, why should I chase after the worldly matters of toxic poison that has no permanence? Why should I stop traveling on horse and elephant and ride on a donkey? Why should I leave the precious Parasmani, and adorn a garland of glass pieces? Why should I leave the saffron paste and apply charcoal on the face? Why should I leave the finest silk clothes and attire bark of a tree? Why should I leave the luscious mango fruit and chase after Semar fruit/sticky substance with no taste? Why should I take bath in the muddy pond, leaving the waves of the ocean? Oh! Prabho, I have already taken shelter at your lotus feet, hence it would be utter ignorance to leave your lotus feet, and approach demi-gods to fulfill my desires. Oh! Prabho, I am dull-minded and blind by birth, I was drenched in lust, desire, ego, anger, jealousy, pride, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, I was chasing after the worldly matters of possession, wealth, richness, fame, money, children, wife, companion and relatives of fleeting nature, thereby I have wasted precious life in pleasing senses, now I am singing in praise of your glories and lying at your doorstep, kindly shower your compassionate grace upon me.”

Chapter – 232-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Anger drives the person insane, and shameless

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, where do I go and take shelter other than your doorstep? Oh! Dheenabandhu/savior of the distressed souls, you have promised to your devotees to protect them from the Samsara Sagara, you are the protector of the Universe and the living and non-living things,  you are the clever savior of the distraught, you are that precious gem ‘Chinthamani’ to your ardent devotees. Oh! Prabho, the impurities of the mind such as lust, desire, ego, jealousy, pride, anger, Ahamkara, and Mamakara are the sinners like Kauravas. Oh! Karunamaya/mercy personified, my intellect resembles Devi Dhraupadhi who was humiliated in the large assembly of Kauravas, tired of the sufferings and grief of worldly existence, kindly listen to my cries, and protect me from the Thapathraya/three kinds of grief. Oh! Prabho, my anger drove me insane, like the Dhusshasan who seized Devi Dhraupadhi on her hair and tried to remove her clothes in the large assembly, my anger has driven me shameless and pathetic. Oh! Prabho, I am like that Dhritharashtra who was born blind and ignorant. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, my intellect is your female servant, hence the deities, humans, Sages, and Rishis are not willing to liberate me from the sufferings of worldly existence, I am helpless, kindly protect me from Samsarasagara.”

Chapter – 231-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The significance of ‘Sri Ramanama Smaran’/recitation of ‘Sri Ramanama’

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, whom shall I approach after leaving you behind? Where did I go and bow my head? To Whom did I sell myself? How did I leave my faith and pure love at your lotus feet? Who is competent to you? Who is capable to fulfill all my desires so that I won’t have anything to beg? Oh! Prabho, you are the ultimate asylum of the Jeeva, you are the creator, preserver, and destroyer as well. You are the source of supreme bliss, you are the sole protector of Jeeva, and you are the provider of the liberation of worldly existence and repeated births. Oh! Prabho, mere remembrance of your sacred name at the time of death would liberate the Jeeva from the anxiousness of repeated births. Oh! Prabho, you have removed the grief and sufferings of the penniless Bhramin Sudhama, and you have provided supreme abode Sri Vaikundam. Oh! Prabho, you have provided the precious gem Chinthamani, the wish-fulfilling tree Kalpavruksha, and Kamadhenu, the divine cow to your ardent devotee Sudhama. Oh! Prabho, I am terrified watching the bottomless ocean of worldly existence, and its infinite sound, smell, appearance, taste, and touch. I am drenched in your unconquerable Maya/illusion/Mrigathrishna, lust, desire, ego, anger, jealousy, pride, Ahamkara, and Mamakara. Oh! Chapter – 230-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The five essential elements  Air/Earth/fire/water/and  space function at the command of Lord Sri Hari

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are the Lord of Lords, hence the deities sincerely follow your command, Lord Surya/ Lord of day, Lord Vayu/air, Lord Varuna/water, and Lord Chandra/ Lord of night, perform their duties till the Universe undergoes deluge at the end of Pralaya.   Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Indra, and deities yearn for your compassionate grace. Oh! Prabho, the deities are sincerely following your command and making sure not to create havoc on the function of the Universe, Lord Agni does not leave its nature to heat, and the ocean water does not ross its boundary, or create mass destruction, trees and mountains do not leave its nature. Oh! Prabho, Lord Bhrama, Lord Shiva, Lord Indra, deities, worship and prostrate before your lotus feet,  Rishis, Sages eulogize your glories. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Chapter – 229-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The unfortunate humans shackled with the Karmaroopi tree represents attachment to worldly matters

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, how long would I keep hurling into various wombs and suffering from the agonies of worldly existence? My intellect resembles powerful streams and the Bhramaroopi/false perceptions like illusion/Maya of bees keep wandering aimlessly, therefore my mind is restless and anxious. Oh! Prabho, I was chasing after material and physical pleasures of fleeting nature, driven away from Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya, drenched in lust, desire, ego, anger, jealousy, pride, Ahamkara, Mamakara, therefore I was never satisfied with the possession, wealth, richness, fame, children, wife, companion, and relatives of fleeting nature. Oh! Prabho, I have not achieved peace and serenity, I pushed myself into anxiousness and redundant thoughts, I was trapped into the attributes of several births/Rajasik, Thamasik,/anger, lust, desire, ignorance, arrogance,/ and Sathvik/kindness, non-violence, truthfulness, righteousness/ like the whirlwind, that compelled me to commit sins by words, mind, and deeds, and I have spent my whole life adorning the body that resembles Trina/grass, which undergoes constant transformation, aging, illnesses, anxiousness, fear of death, grief, etc., therefore, I have never felt peace and serenity. I was forced to perform my duties and responsibilities of good and evil. The three phases of life of childhood, adulthood, and Youth were spent on worldly matters, hence I have lost the precious phases of life without striving for Purusharththa/Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Oh! Prabho, I have reached the later years of age, my body is fragile, my senses are weakened, my movements are restricted, and my limbs are not cooperating with the mind, therefore my chances to perform austerities, vows, Swadhyaya, and penance have become impossible. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are bliss personified, I shall take shelter at your lotus feet, Oh! Karunanidhan, I am terrified to approach you, but I have no one to protect me. Oh! Prabho, I am unfortunate, I  have taken hold of the Karmaroopi tree with this hand, I have let it grow gigantic with my attachment to worldly matters of impermanent nature,  sadly I did not take hold of your lotus feet.”

Chapter – 228-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –All the material matters of possession, wealth, richness, fame, children, wife, companion, and relatives  are perishable

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, I would continue to live the way you wanted, you are my Master, and I am your sincere servant, then there won’t be any need to cry before you. Oh! Kripanidhan, I have been so drenched in the worldly matters of possession, wealth, richness, fame, children, wife, companion, relatives, etc. I have chased material and physical pleasures with the belief that they would be mine and forever, sadly, none of them were permanent, either I had to leave them or they did leave me in extreme grief and agony, sometimes I may stay hungry and exhausted, sometimes I may get a stomach full of a meal, sometimes I travel on elephant and horse, other times I carry the load on my shoulder.Oh! Kamalanayana/who has beautiful eyes resembles lotus flower petals, Oh! Navajaladhara/has the complexion of dark clouds, Oh! Chapter – 227-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –The precious birth of a human to attain Bhakti/devotion, Gnana/wisdom, and Vairagya/renunciation

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Sri Hari, Oh! Vanamali/adorned in flowers of different colors and scents, Oh! Prabho, If you do not listen to my prayers who will listen to my cries? I am helpless, I do not know anyone other than you capable to protect me from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence. Oh! Nikunjja Bihari/Lord Krishna, Oh! Prabho, you are the ocean of mercy, the Jeeva born as a human after hurling into several wombs of air born, Earthborn, and water born. Oh! Prabho, my interest in worldly matters of fleeting nature has driven me away from the Bhakti/devotion, Gnana/wisdom, and Vairagya/renunciation, I have taken great pleasure in each and every body I have attained, chasing after the material and physical pleasures, I was throwing myself into constant grief and agony, like Abijjyatha/Puranjjanopakhyanam – The supreme Lord introduces the Jeeva to the world to take pleasure in the diversities of the Prakrithi /material matters of living and non-living things, without getting attached to it and return to the supreme abode with the practice of Bhakti, Gnana, and Vairagya. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Karunanidhan, you are the source of living and non-living things, you are the protector of All, you have kept your promise alive, you have showered an abundance of grace and fulfilled all the desires of your devotees who have taken shelter at your lotus feet. Oh! Yadhupathi/Lord of Yadhu, where shall I go begging for mercy? Oh! Prabho, I am your sincere devotee, kindly remove my anxiousness and repeated births, and provide shelter at your lotus feet. Oh!
