The illustrious Sages assembled were earnestly prayed to Sage Gargya “Oh! Mahamathe, Sage Gargya kindly narrate the
thousand and eight sacred names of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi capable to
provide Bhakthi/devotion, Mukthi/Salvation and Artha/wealth. Oh! Dhayanidhe/compassionate Sage Gargya,
kindly narrates the glorious names of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi which is capable
to elevate the worshiper from the worldly bondage and provide liberation from the cycles of
birth and death.”
Sage Gargya approached the illustrious
Sage Sanathkumara who has great effulgence of twelve Adityas “ Oh! Sanathkumara,
Oh! Bhagavan, Oh! Sarvagna/omniscient, kindly narrates the ways to achieve
Purushartha in an effortless method, human beings on Earth are suffering from insufficiency of wealth, hence it has
become impossible to follow righteousness.
Which Goddess should be eulogized to attain abundance of affluence,
ultimate knowledge and protection from death?
Oh! Bhraman, kindly narrate who is the representation of refined
knowledge and wisdom, who is the provider of boons?”
Sage Sanathkuamara replied “ Oh! Mahabhaga, you are extremely thoughtful
and considerate about the welfare of the world and its living beings, often this
thought will appear in the mind of righteous people like you. I shall describe the glorious thousands of
names of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi which was eulogized by Lord Bhrama, Lord
Vishnu, Lord Maheshwara and Lord Indra.
These are the sacred verses that should be recited with utmost devotion
and faith, which has the capabilities to provide abundance of affluence to
worshiper.”
Dhyanam –
My humble salutation to Goddess Sri
Mahalakshmi who is Padmanabhapriya who is most desirable to Lord Padmanabha, she has
the eyes of lotus flower, she resides in the lotus flower, she has radiant face
like lotus flower, she holds lotus flower on one hand. I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi
who is the sister of Lord Chandra/Chandrasahodhari, her face has luster of Lord Chandra, her face has the resemblance to Lord Chandra, she
is adorned in various precious ornaments and she is the safest haven of her
passionate devotees. She represents Sachidhanandaroopini/Sat-Chith-Ananda, she is eternal
bliss, she is omniscient, she symbolizes ultimate wisdom and
knowledge, she resides in the chest of Lord Vishnu, she is the mother of the
Universe and its living beings, she is the symbol of mercy and provider of abundance of auspiciousness.
