Shivapanchakshara Sthothram by Sri Adishnakaracharya – Lyrics and meanings

My humble salutation to supreme Lord Shiva who is decked in venomous sepernt as garlands, he has three eyes, he is smeared in sacred ashes all over his body, he is Lord Maheshwara/Lord of the Universe, he is eternal and unblemished, he is attaired the directions as his garments and he represents the syallble “Na” in Panchakshara.



My humble salutation to supreme Lord Shiva who take ablation in the sacred waters of Mandakini, he is anointed in superior sandalwood paste, he is the Lord of Nandishwara and all the deities, he is Lord Maheshwara/Lord of the Universe, he is worshipped with the superior flowers like Mandhara and various fresh alluring flowers, he represents the syllable “Ma” in Panchakshara.



My humble salutation to supreme Lord Shiva who is the personification of auspiciousness/Shiva, he is the Lord Surya that causes blossoming the lotus like face of Goddess Gauri, he is the destroyer of Yagna of Dhakshaprajapathi, he is Lord Nilakanta with bluish throat, he has the flag that has the emblem of divine bull/ Lord Nandishwara.  He represents the syllable “Shi” in Panchakshara.


My humble salutation to supreme Lord Shiva who is worshipped by Sage Vashishta, Sage Agasthya/Kumbodhbhava who is originated from the divine vessel, Sage Gauthama and numerous Sages and Rishis, Lord Indhra and all the deities.  He is Lord Chandrashekhara who is decked the cresent moon on his crown.  His three eyes represents Lord Chandra, Lord Surya and Lord Agni, he represents the syllable “ Va” in Panchakshara.


My humble salutation to supreme Lord Shiva who is personified as Yaksha, he has attractive matted hair locks, he carries the vicious weapon Pinaka and he is primordial, he is supreme ascetic among the deities, he represents the syllable “Ya” in Panchakshara.

Whoever recite these glorious verses of Panchakshara before the supreme Lord Shiva would attain his  abode  and freed from rebirths.
