Sri Adithya Dhyanam – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Adithya who dwells in the lotus flower, he has three eyes/Thrinayanam , his body represents Rig, Yajur, Sama Vedas/Vedathrayi Vigraham, he has four hands and two hands are in Abhya/provides shelter and Varad/offers boon a hastha posture, other two  carries lotus flowers respectively, he has the luster of coral,  he is decked in precious ornaments and garlands such as Keyooram, Angadham, bangle, magnificent ear rings, he controls  the functions creation, preservation and destruction of the Universe, he is the store house of virtues.

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Aditya who has the luster of lotus flower, he has eight hands that carries Gadgam, lotus flower, wheel, conch, pasham, angusham, marvelous Rudraksha beads and  Kapalam, he has lustrous four face with three eyes on each faces, he is decked in gem decorated crown and precious ornaments as garlands, I shall meditate upon Lord Marthanda along with his consort.

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Adithya who is decked in magnificent crown decorated with precious gem, he has lustrous lips, he has beautiful hair locks, he has supreme radiance, he carries lotus flower in his hands, he fills the entire sky/Akashamandalam with his luminosity of precious yellow metal, he sparkle on the peak of Udhyadhri, he is the provider of happiness to all the living beings in the Universe, he is worshiped by Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, he is Lokachakshuss/who witnesses the whole Universe, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Bhasvan to protect us.

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Adithya who carries red lotus flower and Neelothpala on both the hands, he dwells in the middle of Prabhamandalam/super dazzling sphere, he is decked in majestic clothes that have the color of Gorochana/yellow, he is decked in various precious ornaments as garlands, his forehead is decorated with sandal paste.

I hall meditate upon supreme Lord Adhithya who has four hands that carries lotus flowers and Abhaya Varadha hastha posture, he is decked in Keyooram, Haram/garlands, Angadham/armlets, Noopuram/anklets, he is adorned in majestic gem studded crown, he has the luster of hibiscus flower, he has three eyes, he is Dhinanatha/Lord of day hours.

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Adithya who has crimson color complexion, he has supreme radiance, he carries lotus flower and one hand in Abhaya hastha posture, he is seated on the majestic chariot with single wheel  pulled by seven horses connected by the serpent as its rope, his legs are placed on the lotus flower, he is decked in precious gem studded ear rings and gem studded crown, he is attired in crimson colored silk clothes, he has intense luster, he is charismatic, he has Aruna as charioteer, he has Chanda and Pingalan as servants who holds sword and shield, whoever sincerely meditate upon supreme Lord Surya would be relieved from all kinds of sins.
