Sri Margabandhu Sthothram – Sri Appayya Dheekshithar – Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate before Lord Mahadeva/mighty Lord who symbolizes auspicious, he is divine personified as Lord Shambhu as well as Shiva, he is Devesha who is Lord of Lords.  I shall meditate upon Lord Margabandhu who is sincere companion of the souls and guides the soul while departing from the material existence, he is adorned in magnificent crown, he has Agni as eye on forehead, he burnt Lord Kamadeva, he destroys the enemies with his powerful trident, he is adorned in nectar like crescent moon on matted hair locks. I shall meditate upon Lord Margabandhu who is sincere companion of the souls and guides the soul while departing from the material existence, he is adorned in venomous serpents as jewel, and his attractive matted hair locks are adorned in streams of sacred Ganga, he symbolizes sacred Pranava, he holds female antelope on hand, he resembles to tiger/he is attired in the skin of tiger who is surrounded by Siddhas, I shall meditate upon Lord Margabandhu who is sincere companion of the souls and guides the soul while departing from the material existence, he is eternal, he is supreme bliss,  he eradicates the enemies of deities and crushed their pride, he has Mount Meru as bow, he is Kriththivasa, I shall meditate upon Lord Margabandhu who is sincere companion of virtuous souls and guides the soul while departing from the material existence, he crushed the pride of Lord Kamadeva,  he is Kalakanda who crushed the pride of Lord of death, his matted hair locks spreaded all over the sky, he is Mahesha, his beautiful line of teeth has the resemblance to Kundha flowers, he is Suresha who is Lord of Lords, he has the brilliance of crores of Adithya, I shall meditate upon Lord Margabandhu who is sincere companion of the souls and guides the soul while departing from the material existence, he is youthful seated in Chinmudra posture under the shade of Manthara tree and imparting the knowledge of absolute Bhramam to his disciples who are elderly Sages and Rishis, he gracefully swallowed the toxic posion emitted while churning the milky ocean, using Mount Mandhara as the churning rode, that was hindered by Goddess Gauri, he is supreme ascetic, above are the glorious verses prasing the splendor of Lord Margabandhu composed by  Appaya Dheekshithar was known as Sthothrarajam, whoever reads or listens to it while travelling with intense devotion and faith would attain wealth and Siddhi, worshiper would remain safe and protected through out their journey with the blessings of Lord Mahadeva who is Ashuthosh/easily get pleased.
