Yudhishtira speaks “I shall prostrate
before supreme Goddess Durga who was born to Devi Yasodha, she was born as a
boon of Narayana, she was born in the illustrious clan of Nandagopa, she
augmented the auspiciousness of the clan, she crushed the pride of Kamsa, she
is the destroyer of wicked demons, she has personified as Yogamaya who was
thrashed to rock by Kamasa was swiftly rose up in the sky, she is the sister of Vasudeva, she is adorned
in various garlands and precious ornaments, she is attired in crisp majestic
silk garment, she is wielded in Khadga and Khedaga, she symbolizes piousness,
she has personified on Earth at the appeal of
Sadhashiva in order to reduce the burden of Earth, she eradicates all
the sins of worshiper, she is difficult to perceive, I shall reverentially
prostrate before supreme Goddess who has dark cloud complexion, she showers
abundance of boons, she has personified as Kumari and Bhramacharini as well,
she has the effulgence of sun in the early hours of dawn, she has the luster of
full moon, she has four powerful arms, she has four faces, she has beautiful
waist line which holds the heaviness of
high and large bosom, she is adorned in the feathers of peacock as armlets, she has personified as Padma who is
lotus born and consort of Lord Narayana, she is Bhramacharin who strictly
follows chastity, she explores through the sky, she has the complexion of dark
clouds and has mesmerizing beauty, her long hands resembles the majestic flag
poles of Lord Indhra, she holds gem decorated vessel, lotus flower, bell,
Pasham, Angusham, Mahachakram and various fierce weapons, she adorned in
magnificent earrings which spreads ray of light, her face is extremely lustrous
which excels the beauty of full moon, she is adorned in marvelous crown on the beautiful
long and curly plait of hairs which resembles to serpent, magnificent girdle on
the beautiful waist line which appears as Mount Mandara tied with the serpent
Vasuki, she has majestic flag which has the symbol of peacock, she is youthful
always, she undertakes extreme austerities and penances, she is the purifier of
three worlds, she is eulogized and
worshiped by trinities, she has personified as Mahishasuramardhini in order to
retain peace in the three worlds, she has pleasing disposition, she is supreme
Goddess, I shall always meditate upon supreme Goddess ShivA who is the beloved
consort of Lord Shiva and she symbolizes all kinds of auspiciousness, she is
Jaya and Vijaya who symbolizes triumph, she is the provider of victory in war
fields, Oh! Devi, kindly blesses us with triumph in all endeavors, she resides
in the highest peak of Vindhyachala and all the highest mountain peaks, she has
personified as Mahakali who is wielded in
Khadga, and Khadvanga , she showers abundance of boons to worshiper who
are surrendered at her lotus feet, she provides liberation from worldly
existence to worshiper who yearn for Moksha, whoever worship Goddess Durga
during the early hours of dawn would not face the scarcity of wealth, richness
and offspring, she is Durga who eradicate perils and miseries of the worshiper
who remember her sacred names while exploring through the mountains and
difficult pathways, dense woods, or in the deep sea, Oh! Durge, you are the
protector of the worshiper who is surrendered at your lotus feet, you are the
savior of the worshiper who is attacked in the bottomless sea, or in the
wilderness of woods, whoever eulogize the splendor of Goddess Durga would be
blessed with fame, wealth, prosperity, good fortune, richness, intelligence,
spiritual fervor, wisdom, virtuous offspring etc.. she represents Sandhya/dawn,
noon, dusk, darkest hours in the night, radiance, sleep, day and night,
patience, compassion, etc… whoever worships
Goddess Durga would get freed from the fear of loosing dearest ones, sons, deterioration of wealth, illnesses, fear of death, etc… Oh! Devi I have been exiled from the Kingdom,
I shall take shelter at the lotus feet of you. Oh! Sureshvari who is supreme
Goddess, I shall bow my head before you, Oh! Padmapathrakshi who has the eyes
resembles to the lotus flower petals and symbolizes absolute truth, kindly
protect me. Oh! Durge who is extremely compassionate to worshiper, I shall
surrender at your lotus feet.” Goddess Durga was highly pleased after listening
to the prayers of Yudhishtira and appeared before him.
Devi speaks “whoever worship me with intense devotion and faith,
eulogizes my splendor in the above verses would be blessed with Rajyam/kingdom, Ayur/longevity, health,
attractiveness, admiration etc.. worshiper who remember my splendor will remain
protected during expedition to foreignlands, or in the war zone, sea or
wilderness in the dense woods, or mountain peaks, Oh! Pandava, there is nothing impossible to
attain in this world, people lives in the Viratanagara whoever reads or listens
to the above glorious verses with intense devotion and faith would get their
desires fulfilled and success in all endeavors.” In this way, Goddess Durga showered
abundance of boons upon Yudhishtira and disappeared from his sight.
