Ashtavakra Gita/Ashtavakreeyam – Chapter - 14

Chapter -13 –  Shanthi Chathushtayam

King Janaka speaks “Oh! Maharishi, person/Jjyani who has achieved perfect control over sense and free form redundant thoughts, even if he happened to fall for the unwanted thoughts gets free from it, as if getting out of the sleep, he is free from the interest in worldly matters and attributes, all those Karma performed by Jjyani is Karma performed got out between the sleep. Oh! Maharishi, all my desires have ended, therefore I have no interest in wealth, companion, and thieves like interest in worldly matters, and knowledge in Shastras, Puranas, and Gnana.  A Jjyanni won’t take interest in any of the above-said matters. Oh! Maharishi, I have no interest in Bandha, Moksha, after achieving the knowledge of the Supreme Lord who is all-pervasive Bhramam, resides as a soul in living beings; he is the sole-witness, and hence I have no desire for Mukthi too. Oh! Maharishi, Jjyani is free from afflictions, he is unblemished, will have the appearance of an insane, wander at his own free will without any restrictions, only the intellectuals could recognize those Jjyanis.”

Ashtavakra Gita/Ashtavakreeyam – Chapter - 15

Chapter -15 –   Thaththvopadhesham

Sage Ashtavakra speaks “Oh! Rajan, the Sathvik natured people remain contented with a little knowledge of Thaththvopadhesha eventually achieves Mukthi. The person who is lack of Sathvik nature works in whole life to achieve that supreme knowledge of the all-pervasive Bhramam which has no duality, resides as a soul in the living beings, remains an Ajjyani forever, lacks the knowledge of oneness-in-all. Oh! Rajan, Moksha is free from desires, interest in worldly matters, and attachment. The interest in worldly matters creates bondage, this is the ultimate wisdom, therefore after achieving that supreme knowledge, perform whatever you feel like. Oh! Rajan, the knowledge of Thaththvabhodha/supreme Bhramam, transforms an excellent speaker, intelligent and hard-working person as a lack of speaking ability, serene, free from Karma, desires, attachments, and afflictions.  The Bhogis who is drenched in worldly matters and bondages do not desire for transformation in them, so keep themselves away from the knowledge of supreme Bhramam. The lack of interest in worldly matters and bondage would provide Thathvabodha, the knowledge of all-pervasive supreme Bramham resides as the soul is eternal bliss, free from afflictions, and it is unblemished and pure. Therefore the Athmajjyani immerses in supreme bliss, his mind, intellect, and sense stops chasing after worldly matters, so he remains as a person who lost the speaking ability, free from Karma, and afflictions. Oh! Rajan, you are not a body, you are the part of that supreme Bhramam, you are not the doer/Karththa and Bhoktha/consumer. Oh! Rajan, you are that supreme consciousness, sole-witness, independent, and free from afflictions. Oh! Rajan, Ragadhvesha/lust, desire, ego, anger, pride, and jealousy is the nature of mind and intellect, the mind originated according to its past attributes from that supreme soul. Oh! Rajan, you are that supreme Bhramam which is free from passions, it has no specific form, it is beyond description, it is supreme consciousness can be experienced. Therefore, take pleasure in that all-pervasive supreme Bramham and live happily. Oh! Rajan, the supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in living beings, so keep yourself free from ego and pride. Oh! Rajans, practice the sense of Oneness-in-all and remain free from afflictions. The supreme Bramham is Antharyami, is the core spirit of all the living beings, and you are not the body, you are that supreme Bhramam. Oh! Rajan, the Universe initiates from that supreme consciousness, there is no doubt that you are that supreme consciousness, understand that, and keep yourself free from affliction. Oh! Thatha, you are that supreme consciousness which is the essence of wisdom, you are beyond Prakrithi, do not fall for illusions, and keep yourself devoted to that supreme Bhramam. Oh! Rajan, this body with sense organs keeps taking several births, undergoes Jara/aging, illness, and death.   The supreme soul has no beginning or end, then why you are crying for this body? Oh! Rajan, let this body remains till the end of Kalpa or not, you are that supreme consciousness has no death or birth. Oh! Rajan, let the waves rise and subside in the ocean of supreme consciousness, you have no harm or gain. Oh! Thatha, you are that supreme consciousness, this Universe is not different from you, then who is getting attached to it or abandon it? Oh! Rajan, you are that supreme consciousness, which has no dual forms, it is eternal, serene and bliss, therefore where is that birth, Karma, ego in you? Oh! Rajan, the Universe and diversified nature of Prakrithi initiates from that supreme consciousness of you like the attractive ornaments created out of precious yellow metal, the ornaments have no independent existence from the gold. Oh! Rajans, leave the entirely false notion and understand that you are that supreme consciousness/soul/Bhramam, and remain free from illusion. Oh! Rajan, the ignorance in you envisions the Universe with diversified Prakrithi, in reality, there is nothing other than the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam. Therefore understand that you are that all-pervasive supreme Bhramam and sole witness. Oh! Rajan, this Universe is Bhranthi/illusion; there is no truth in it. The person who has achieved the supreme knowledge of the ocean-like all-pervasive Bhramam, understands the Universe as the ocean waves that rise and subside,  hence they remain free from attachments to people, money, wealth, possessions, fame, etc. and remains serene.  Oh! Rajan, initially there was only Athman/Bhramam/supreme soul, which is indestructible in the Samsarasagara, and it remains forever. You have no Bandha/bondage or Moksha/freedom, therefore keep yourself contented. Oh! Rajan, do not spoil the intellect with favorable and unfavorable thoughts, or illusions and wrong perceptions, take pleasure in that supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in you, and keep yourself free from afflictions. Oh! Rajan, Athmajjyani need not engage in several practices, Shravanam, Mananam, Asanam, is for the beginners, keep yourself free from all the bondages, routines always immerse in  the contemplation of that supreme Bhramam which is free from worldly matters and attachments."
