Nyayashasthra – Chapter -16 - Chanakya Neethi – 1 - 10

Chapter – 16– Chanakya Neethi – 1 – 10

Rishi Chanakya speaks “ The Jeeva who does not strive to achieve Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha while living on the Earth, is compared to ax that cut off the beautiful trees in the forest like the youthfulness of the mother,  and the nature of  those unfortunate Jeeva are 1) Jeeva who  do not undertake austerities, meditation or contemplation upon the supreme Lord to get rid of the cycles of repeated births, 2) Jeeva who does not earn piousness with the performance of righteous deeds to achieve the heavenly abode 3) Jeeva who is immersed in immoral deeds while awake, and  dreaming the nearness of the voluptuous body of the woman, these unfortunate Jeeva are a burden on the Earth, born  to chop off the youthfulness of the mother. The women in the Kali era will not be sincere in relationships; men will not have their own identity, act like the caged birds, dancing to the tune of women. The common truths are 1) No one is free from pride of wealth, status, fame, richness, wisdom 2) The people who chase after Vishayasukha/interest in worldly matters and sensual pleasure, shovels themselves into troubles 3) no one is free from emotional break-downs 4) Kings will have favorites 5) life on the Earth has fleeting nature 6) person who begs for a living lose respect 7) people who are in the association of Dhurjjanas cannot live in peace. “Vinashakale Vipareethabudhdhi” it is certain that the person whose time is not in favor, would bring destruction, 0therwise Lord Rama would not have chased after the golden deer, which was never seen or heard. If the time is not in favor of person, it would encourage the intellect to go against all the norms. The virtue of the person brings respect and admiration among the people, it is not that status or wealth or richness or fame, like the crow seated on the roof of the palace cannot be considered as King of the birds. The virtuous /noble souls achieves honor and admiration, not the wealthiest without virtues, like the crescent moon achieved admiration after that had attained a place in the matted hair locks of Lord Mahadeva. The respect earned by performing righteous deeds enhances the virtues in the person, if the wicked self- praises the virtues even if it is Lord Indra will not achieve respect. The constant association with the learned and scholarly would augment the virtues as well as knowledge in various fields, like the gem-adorned in the ornament multiplies the beauty of the necklace. The precious gem ruby decorated in golden ornaments gives out an exquisite appearance, in the same manner, the virtuous and knowledgeable persons require a skillful assistant to exhibit their excellence, like the precious gem ruby depends on the golden ornaments to steal the hearts of others.”
