Chapter – 2 – Sri Yogavashista Saram – 11 –

Sage Vashisht speaks “Oh! Rama, the
knowledge of the all-pervasive Bhramam would remove redundant thoughts, the
Paramarththa Thaththva the knowledge of indestructible Purusha Paramathma
resides as soul/Athman, and the destructible Prakrithi/material matters would
remove the false notion in the Jeeva, thereby the interest in worldly matters
and bondage would lessen, like the false idea of the rope creates trepidation
in the Jeeva, later disappears with the proper understanding of the same. The
ignorance causes the interest in worldly matters and bondage, it prompts the
Jeeva to satiate the sense, the constant chase after the material matters,
wealth, rich, fame, money, possession, people, etc. brings sufferings if the
Jeeva does not stop the chases after material well-being and pleasure, the
Upashanthi/relief from miseries and sorrows are beyond reach. The Mithya/ignorance
creates bondage, the wisdom /Paramaraththa Thaththva unfasten the Jeeva from
the Mithya/ignorance. The Athman is Paramathma Parambhramam which is free from
afflictions, pure, unblemished, has neither birth nor death. The mind and
intellect/thoughts have fleeting nature, resembles huge waves in the ocean. The
Upashanthi of the endless thought process/redundant thoughts cannot be achieved
without the knowledge of Athman/Paramathma Parambhramam. The
Samsara/worldly existence is an Indhrajalashri/illusion, the assumption of the
mind and intellect causes innumerable Nama Roopa Dhrishya like the spirit instills
fear in the child, the Samsara creates trepidation in the ignorant Jeeva. The ignorant
Jeeva assumes the destructible Prakrithi such as wealth, possession, money,
richness, fame, attachment to wife, children, companion, relatives as permanent.
Alas! Without the knowledge of its impermanent nature, the Jeeva get fasten
with these material matters and people and undergoes constant afflictions in
the absence of them. The ignorant Jeeva fails to understand the Paramarththa
Thaththva, the indestructible Purusha/Paramathma/Athman, and destructible Prakrithi/material
matters get attached to destructible material matters like the Jeeva do not
know the preciousness of the gold. The Athmajjani perceive the all-pervasive Bhramam
in Puram/country, Griham/house, Naga/serpent, and Nagendhra/mountain remain
serene and blissful. The ignorant without the knowledge of ‘Oneness-in-all’, gets
attached to the above mentioned Dhrishya/vision and undergoes excitement and
fright as well. The Athmajjani perceive the Universe is bliss, and the ignorant
witnesses the Universe as the ocean of miseries, because the Athmajjani
perceive eternal bliss with the knowledge of Paramarththa, Alas! The ignorant
witnesses the ocean of miseries due to the darkness of ignorance. The knowledge
of self;/ Athman/Paramarththa Thaththva / the destructible Prakrithi and
indestructible Purusha/Athman would remove the interest in worldly matters and
bondage, eventually, it would free the Jeeva from Manovriththi/ Kama, Krodha,
Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, and remain blissful always. The infinite Nama
Roopa Dhrishya appears and disappears in the world as the clouds in the sky,
has fleeting nature.”
