Viveka Choodamani – Sri Shankaracharya Virachitham – Bhramanishta is the path of Moksha

Chapter – 39 – Viveka Choodamani  - 381 – 390

Preceptor speaks “Oh! Mune, the Sadhaka contemplates upon the supreme Bhramam resides as soul, abandoning interest in worldly matters and bondage which causes to augment the Ahamkara, ego, lust, desire, jealousy, pride, etc. he undertakes strict austerities, vow, celibacy, contemplation and meditation upon that Paramathma Parambhramam resides as soul and achieves Moksha. The Yogi perceives that supreme consciousness/Paramathma, as Sarvasakshin/sole witness, is the source of functioning mind, intellect, Ahamkara, Panchaprana, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas, etc. engages in the contemplation upon that Bhramam and achieve the serenity of mind. The Yogi with the knowledge of Paramathma/Purusha, and the nature of Prakrithi/body, Buddhi, Prana, Ahamkara, which has fleeting nature, abandons the interest in worldly matters and bondage, contemplate upon that Akhanda Sacchidanandha Swroopa Paramathma Parambhramam that is vast like the sky, immerses in the Bhramanishta. The Jeeva’s Upadhisambandha/Karma, Gnanendhriyas, mind, intellect, Prana, etc. gives out the appearance of infinite names and sizes, makes the Jeeva get attached to it. The Yogi gets rid of visions/Dhrishya, and redundant thoughts, and immerses in the contemplation of the Supreme Lord, consider those Dhrishya like the mud pots of different sizes and forms are made out of the mud. The Yogi abandons all those Dhrishya and its related thoughts and immerses in Akhanda Sacchidhananda Adhvaitha Paramathma Parambhramam. The supreme Bhramam is all-pervasive, and all those Dhrishya are mere illusion/Maya, there is nothing exists other than the Akhanda Satchidananda Adhvaitha Bhramam. Whoever sincerely follows that, won’t get perplexed, or drown to the Samsara again and again. Whenever the Dhrishya/visions, dominates due to ignorance in the Jeeva, the intelligent would restrict it with the knowledge of the all-pervasive Bhramam, and get rid of delusion, like the rope mistaken as the serpent. The Yogi perceives the permanent truth ‘I am that Bhrama, I am that Vishnu I am that Indra and Rudra as well. I am that Universe and I am that living and non-living things as well’. There is nothing other than the supreme Bhramam, the illusion in the Jeeva forced to believe the infinite Nama Roopa of that Bhramam.”

The Akhanda Satchidananda Swroopa Paramathma Parambhramam is all-pervasive, and there is nothing other than Supreme Bhramam, like the waves, foam, bubbles in the water. In the same manner, the body, intellect, mind, chithth, Ahamkara, Panchaprana, Pandhendhriyas Karmendhriyas, functioning in the presence of supreme Bramham/Paramathma as a soul in it. The illusion causes to get attracted to the Dhrishya/visions, of infinite names and Roopa, there is nothing other than the all-pervasive Bhramam/Oneness-in all. The Universe/Prapancha is initiated from the Bhramachaithanya, is beyond words and mind. The mud pot made out of mud has no existence without the mud, likewise, the Universe and its living beings/body, mind, intellect, karma Gnendhriyas, Panchaprana functioning in the sole existence of Bhramam/Paramthma has no existence without it, then why should the Jeeva take pride in its life? Why should Jeeva take pride in body and possessions? Is not that utter foolishness?”
