Chapter – 43 – Viveka Choodamani - 421 – 430
Preceptor speaks “The fruit of
wisdom/knowledge of ‘self’/Athman, is getting rid of attachment to worldly
matters and bondage that has impermanent nature, thereby get rid of miseries
and sorrows of worldly existence. The fruit of Ajjana/ignorance is getting
drenched in the material matters, people wealth, richness, money, possession,
fame, etc. and undergoes constant sufferings in the absence of people or any of
the above-mentioned comforts and luxuries of life. Vidhya/knowledge of ‘self’
provides Samsaranivriththi/getting freed from worldly existence and the result
of ignorance /Avidhya is Samsarabhandham.
The learned chooses
Samsaranivriththi with the knowledge of self, for getting liberated from the
sufferings of worldly existence and repeated births as well. The ignorant Jeeva
gets drenched in worldly matters and bondage undergoes constant miseries
and pain, ultimately heave them into the vicious cycle of repeated births. The
Athmajjani breaks the chain of ignorance/Ajjanagrandhi with the knowledge of
all-pervasive supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, and undertake
austerities and Tapasya, as a result, gets freed from the Maya/Prapancha Vasthu,
won’t return back to the destructible Prakrithi. The Viraktha get rid of attributes/Vasana,
Triguna, Ahamkara with the constant meditation and contemplation upon the
supreme Lord. An Ahamkari cannot be a Jjani. The learned get rid of Ahamkara
and achieve Uparathi/lack of interest in worldly matters, with the knowledge destructible
nature of it. The piousness earned in the several births provides ‘Athmarathi’/knowledge
of’ self’, Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, and thereby abandon
the worldly interest and matters, these fortunate Jeeva keep away from the
Prapancha, remain in isolation, even if they happen to be in the crowd,
consider those Dhrishya as in the sleep/Sushupthi or witnesses those Dhrishya
like a child. These types of Jjani is Dhanya/the most fortunate and respectable
Jeeva. The Sthithaprajja is the one who immerses in the ‘Athmarathi’/perceive that
Paramathma Bhramam resides as a soul, remain free from Karma and Vikara/emotions,
ultimately achieve union with the supreme Bhramam. Bhramajjani perceives the Paramathma as Athman/soul, remain in the state of
transcendental/Aham Bhramasmi. The Jeevanmuktha takes immense pleasure in the ‘Athmarathi’/Prajjanavriththi,
remains in eternal bliss, completely freed from the Prapancha/material matters
and bondage. These Jeevanmuktha do not get attached to the material matters
even in the Jagrathavastha, their Chiththa is absolutely free from worldly matters
and bondage, their nature is ‘Nirvasana’/free from attributes of
Trigunas/Sathvik, Rajasik, and Thamasik, freed from Vikara, remains free from
the Samsara, even if they happen to be in the crowd. Their mind and intellect
would be free from thoughts, like the vast sky without any appearance or colors,
they consider the Sthoolashareera/body as a shadow, are completely freed from the body and I consciousness.”
