Sri Mani Rathna Mala – Prashnoththari – Sri Shankaracharya Virachitham

 


Chapter – 5 – Sri Manirathna Mala – 22 – 27


The disciple speaks “Oh! Bhagavan, 1) which is an added ornament to the face? 2) What is truthful Karma? 3) what is the specific deed that does not bring guilt?”

 

The preceptor speaks “1) Aksharavidhya/knowledge and wisdom is the exquisite ornament that enhances the beauty of the face a) sensible talks b) truthful and pleasant way of talking c) talks for the welfare of all. 2) The truthful Karma is kindness, and compassion to fellow beings. 3) The worship of Lord Kamsari/Krishna and Lord Kamari/Shiva is the one and only deed that does not bring any guilt.”

 

The disciple speaks “Oh! Bhagavan, 1) which brings Moksha? 2) What is the splendor of Moksha? 3)What is extremely troublesome? 4) Who is most venerable?”

 

The preceptor speaks “ 1) The destruction of ‘redundant thoughts’ brings Moksha, it is the supreme state the Jeeva   completely freed from the  unwanted and unpleasant thoughts about past Karma and the anxiousness of the future, both does not bring any good other than take away the serenity of the mind. Moksha is the state freed from the three phases of life/past, present, and future, the Yogi meditate and contemplate upon the all-pervasive supreme Bramham is eternal bliss, hence the destruction of unwanted thoughts, fears, and anxieties is the gateway to Moksha. 2) The most splendorous thing of Moksha is fearlessness; the dualities instigate fear in the Jeeva. Yogis undertake extreme austerities and Tapasya gets freed from the redundant thoughts, impurities, interest in worldly matters and bondage, I and body consciousness, and freely and fearlessly wanders all over the Earth. Moksha is the supreme state freed from the disparities of respect and disrespect, fame and ill-fame, grief and joy, happiness and sorrow. 3) The ‘ignorance’ is troublesome, constantly creates ruffle in the Jeeva, and destroys the serenity of mind. The lack of knowledge of ‘self’, the indestructible Purusha resides as soul, and the destructible Prakrithi that has transient nature causes trepidation in the Jeeva. The ignorant Jeeva get drenched in the worldly matters and bondage of impermanent nature, continuously chases after the bodily pleasure and accumulation of wealth, richness, fame, money, etc. that has momentary life and thereby loss the serenity of mind, hence ignorance is the root cause of Mrithyu/fear of death. 4) The preceptors, deities, and elderly are most venerable. The preceptor imparts the knowledge of supreme Bhramam/Athmajjanam, the worship of deities removes the impurities of the mind and respect to elderly enriched with the experience of destructible nature of Prakrithi and material matters are most venerable.”

 

The disciple speaks “Oh! Bhagavan, what would be the immediate action of the intellectuals while leaving the mortal coil?”

 

The preceptor speaks “The intellectuals, Mahathma, noble-souls have a thorough knowledge of Prana that has no assurance, leave the body at any moment, therefore, they constantly immerse in contemplating and meditating upon the lotus feet of supreme Lord Murari, who removes the fear of death and provides the serenity of mind, so that the mind and words do not forget to utter the sacred names while leaving the mortal coil, thereby protect themselves from the vicious cycles of rebirth.”

 

The disciple speaks “1) Who are the dangerous thieves in the journey of life? 2) Who shines on the podium? 3) who is compassionate as a mother? 4) what is undiminishing?”

 

The preceptor speaks “ 1) The Dhurvasana/the unwanted habits, lack of virtues are dangerous thieves in the journey of life. The impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya destroy the serenity of the mind and push the Jeeva into the repeated cycles of birth. 2) The intellectuals shine on the podium, the weak and ignorant miserably fail in every task. 3) The Athmavidhya/knowledge of self’ is compassionate and soothing as a mother, it protects the Jeeva from the redundant thoughts, trepidations of worldly existence. 4) The knowledge/Athmavidhya shared will not diminish, instead, it would enhance the perception of the person who shared the knowledge with others.”

 

The disciple speaks “ Oh! Bhagavan, 1) which is frightful? 2) who is the closest associate? 3) who are real parents?”

 

The preceptor speaks “ 1) The frightful things are a) bad reputation and b) the dense forest like worldly existence. 2) whoever gives you shelter during the troubled times in life is the closest associate. 3) The real parents are the one who protects the children from every toughest situation in the life.”

 

The disciple speaks “ Oh! Bhagavan, 1) what is the supreme knowledge? 2) Which gives the knowledge of Prapancha?”

 

The preceptor speaks “ 1) The Paramarththa Thaththva is the supreme knowledge. The knowledge of the all-pervasive Adhvaitha Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva is pure, unblemished, eternal bliss, free from impurities and afflictions, has neither birth nor death is the Paramarththa/eternal truth. 2) The flawless Paramarththa Thaththva gives the knowledge of the destructible nature of Prakrithi/Prapancha, material matters such as wealth, fame, money, richness, possession, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companions, etc. have fleeting nature. The body is perishable, undergoes constant transformation, aging, illness, and death, the Athman is imperishable Paramathma has neither birth nor death.”

 

Shathro Mahashathru Thamoasthi Ko Va  Kama: Sa Kopanritha Lobha Thrishna: | Na Puryathe  Ko Vishayai: Sa Yeva Kim  Dhukha Moolam Mamathabhidhanam ||

 

Kim Mandanam Saksharatha Muvasya Sathyam Chakim Bhoothahitham Sadhaiva | Kim Karma Krithvanahi Shochaneeyam Kamarikamsari Samarcchanakhyam ||

 

Kasyasthinashe  Manasohi Moksha:  Kva  Sarvadhanasthi Bhayam Vimukthau | Shalyam Param Kim Nijamoorkhathaiva  Ke Kehyupasya  Gurudeva Vridhdha: ||

 

Upasthithe Pranahare Krithanthe | Kimashu Karyam Sudhiya Prayanthath? Vakayachiththai: Sukhadham Yamaghnam  Murari  Padhambhuja Chinthanam Cha ||
