Chapter - 94 -Sri Vinaya Patrika - Paramathma is Jeevathma – The significance
of recitation of Ramanama to get rid of sorrows of Karma/deeds, Kala/time, and
Guna/impulsive nature
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, 1)
if you have sincerely followed Sathyam, Dhaya, Shaucham, Ahimsa, Arjjavam,
Dhanam, Shamam, Dhamam, forbearance, Swadhyaya/ learning and reciting
scriptures and Veda, and 2) performed
spiritual and religious rites prescribed in the Veda for Eshwaraththa,
undertaken vows, austerities, observance of silence and celibacy, etc. and
contemplation and meditation upon Lord Sri Ramachandra and 3) if you have
achieved the Paramarththa Thaththva/ knowledge of self’/Athma is Paramathma,
all the material matters are impermanent and the soul is indestructible
Purusha, then you would have protected yourself from the vicious cycles of
rebirth. Oh! Jeeva, you have forgotten the ‘Athmaswaroopa’ and attached on the
material matters/Prakrithi and people, immersed in Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa,
Roopa and Gandha, ultimately you have thrown yourself into vicious cycles of
rebirth, and taken several births in different Yonis, and have undergone the
miseries and sorrows of Samsara. Oh! Mind, if you have achieved the precious Ramanama as wealth, and taken shelter at the lotus feet of Janakinath Sri
Ramachandra, you would have attained supreme bliss in Ihaloka/life on Earth and
Paraloka/life after death as well. Oh! Jeeva, if you attained intense devotion
at the lotus feet of Lord Raghunath, you would have freed from the impurities
of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha and Mathshcharya, Ahamkara and Mamakara,
excessive interest in Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa, Roopa, and Gandha, ultimately you
would have freed from the sorrows of Kala/time, Karma/deed, and Guna/and sudden impulse
too. Oh! Jeeva, if you have found interest in the recitation of Ramanama, you
would have achieved the knowledge of Swarththa and Paramarththa, and achieved
happiness in Ihaloka and Paraloka as well. If you have served the Santh,
Mahathma, noble-souls, and the distressed people, all your impurities would
have settled down in the bottom of your heart, in this manner, the impurities
of crores of Janma/births would have settled down, eventually, you would have
attained pure intellect and the serenity of mind. Oh! Jeeva, whoever afar from
the practice of Ramanama Japa have to take several births to get rid of the
Samsara Chakra. Maharishi Valmiki was a hunter in his previous birth, had
attained the superior status of ‘Adhikavi’ by reciting the sacred Ramanama as
‘Ma Ra’, hence it’s obvious that the recitation of Ramanama in reverse order
could provide an abundance of auspiciousness, then what would be the piousness
achieved by reciting the Ramanama as its original order. Oh! Ignorant, you have
attained the rarest birth as a human, that is impossible to attain even for the
deities, if you have utilized your birth for achieving the fruitfulness of it
by practicing austerities, Japa, Thapa, Shamadhamadi, etc. you would have
achieved all the auspiciousness, and the Vidhatha would have been favorable to
you. Oh! Mind, if you have found love in reciting Ramanama you would have
protected from the Thrividha Thapa, won’t be sweltering in the blazing fire of
miseries and sorrows of Samsara.”
