Chapter – 177- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The practice of
devotion to get rid of impurities of the mind such as lust, desire, ego,
jealousy, and anger
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, I
have already surrendered at your lotus feet, I have promised to myself that I
won’t leave your lotus feet without achieving your grace, Oh! Sri Hari, Oh!
Navalanagar, I do not know how you are going to liberate me from the grief and
sufferings of worldly existence. I have committed various sins by words, deeds,
and mind, I did not leave a single thing from the list of immoral deeds, Oh!
Prabho, you are too kind and compassionate and have taken the vow to liberate even
the grave sinner who is surrendered at your lotus feet. Oh! Kamalalochan/who
has eyes that resembles lotus flower petals, I am not easily traceable from the
mountain of sins, I am hiding in the deep cave of sins, how could you find me
from the deep cave of the mountain of sins? Oh! Prabho, you have given me an
opportunity to be in the association of Santh, Mahathma, and noble souls, which
is the easiest way to achieve the knowledge of ‘self’/knowledge of Bhramam that
is all the living and non-living things are perishable, and the soul is
imperishable/ but I have neglected them too. Oh! Prabho, I am unfortunate, I
did not utilize this rarest birth for the practice of austerities and devotion,
instead, I have chosen to be in the association of wicked and deceitful, although
you want to liberate every single soul on Earth, if you want to free me from
the worldly existence, you may have to work so hard, I could visualize the
sweat on your forehead, my body and mind is full of impurities, why are you so adamant
to protect me? Oh! Pathitha Pavan/protector of distressed souls, while you
protect your vows to your devotees surrendered at your lotus feet, the
impurities of my mind will also get washed away.”
