Chapter – 10– Chanakya Neethi 11 –20
Rishis Chanakya speaks “ The hostility towards Mahatmas, others, King,
and Bhramin brings terrible consequences to the doer 1) the enmity to
Mahatmas/saintly/noble souls bring terrible death 2) enmity to others causes
destruction of wealth and peace 3) enmity to King brings Sarvanasha/destruction
of peace, wealth, and life 4) enmity to twice-born brings destruction of the
clan. It is extremely difficult and
pathetic to live in the middle of relatives without the basic necessities like
food, shelter, and clothing, instead it is good to live in the dense wood, depending
on the fiber roots, fruits and vegetables on the wood as meals, taking shelter
under the trees, and use the skin and leaves of the trees as clothing. The flawless twice-born is compared to an
auspicious tree, the performance of Sandhya/worship of Surya thrice a day is
the root of it, branches represents the Rig, Yajur, Sama, and AtharvanaVeda, and
the leaves of the trees symbolize the Vedic Karma, spiritual, and religious
rites performed. Hence, a twice-born should protect its root, that is the worship of
Sun, without the protection of root, it is impossible to safeguard the Veda and
scriptures, and related Karmas. The scriptures strongly recommend Matha/mother
as Goddess Mahalakshmi/Kamaladevi, Pitha/father as Bhagavan Janardhana, and the
relatives as the devotees of Lord Vishnu, and the region he/she lives as three
worlds. The Prakrithi/people and their behavior, color, nature, attitude,
custom, belief, style of living, etc. have diversified nature, like a tree
sheltered by various species and colors of birds, and their directions may
differ from one another. In the same manner, all the living and non-living things
has a limited period of time to live and take pleasure on the Earth, they undergo
constant transformation and finally meet ruin. Therefore, it is meaningless to
take pride in the possessions, material things, wealth, richness, fame, and get
over-attached to people/wife, children,
companion, relatives, etc. and possession, ultimately undergo the pain of separation
in its absence. The intelligent, and wise, understand the destructible
nature of Prakrithi and the indestructible supreme Purusha resides as the soul is
eternal, pure, has no birth or death, free from afflictions, therefore
contemplates upon that supreme Bhramam/Purusha/Athman and live in absolute
bliss. The learned get rid of miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence,
like the intellectuals win over the toughest of the challenges. The
Yadhupathi/King of Yadhu, Lakshmipathi is the protector of all the living and
non-living things, why should we get anxious about ourselves and others? If not,
how did it be possible for the mothers to feed the bosom milk to her infant
immediately after birth? Who caused it to happen? Oh! Lakshmipathi, I shall
take shelter at your lotus feet in all my life. I have a great love for the
Sanskrit language, and lots of interest in other languages too, like the
deities have nectar to take pleasure in it, even though they approach the beautiful
celestial Apsaras to consume the nectar from their lips. The meals made out of
grains and pulses have ten times protein value than the casual meals/rice, the
milk has ten times protein value over the meals made of pulses and grains,
the meat has eight times protein value over the milk, surprisingly, the
Ghee has ten times of protein value over the meat consumed. The constant miseries,
anguish, grief, bring various illnesses, the milk has rich protein value, hence
the consumption of it provides good health, the consumption of ghee provides
good strength to muscles and the consumption of meat would increase the size
of the muscles, other than it has nothing to do with human health.”
