Chapter -41 -Sri Vinaya Patrika - The significance of recitation of Ramanama
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Tongue, do
recite the glorious Ramanama with devotion and faith, in this evil Kali era,
the Yoga, Yajja, Thapa, Vairagya, austerities, extreme penance won’t help you to
achieve the serenity of mind, or will not help you to get rid of impurities of
Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathscharya, interest in worldly matters
and bondage, body, and I' consciousness. The Shastra describes the Vidhinishedhakarma,
I would recommend the recitation of Ramanama is the Rajavidhi/superior method to
achieve the serenity of mind, get relieved from redundant thoughts, therefore I
would suggest the absence from the practice of the recitation of Ramanama is
the Vidhinishedhakarma/Karma forbidden by the scriptures and Veda. The Ramanama
is Mahamani/glorious gem, the illusion of Samsara is Ugrasarpa/serpent which
holds the Mahamani, once the Mani removed from the Ugrasarpa it would get
weakened, in this way, the Samsara like Ugrasarpa holds the precious gem of
Ramanama, once it is removed, the serpent gets weakened, the interest in the worldly
matters and bondage, false perception, perplexities, sufferings, grief, and
illusion in the Samsara will get destroyed. Oh! Jeeva, Ramanama is
Kalpavruksha, it provides the Purusharththa/Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha
to the worshiper, it is affirmed by illustrious Veda, scriptures, Lord Shiva,
Rishis and Sages. The love for the recitation of Ramanama is the gateway to
Purusharththa, Bhukthi, and Mukthi as well. I am Tulsidas has already taken the shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra and Ramanama.”
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “ Oh! Tongue,
listen to me carefully, until and unless you recite the Ramanama with devotion
and faith, you will not escape from the blazing fire like the Thrividhathapa/Adhidheivik,
Adhibauthik and Adhyathmik of worldly existence. The interest in worldly
matters and bondage, body and I consciousness, attachment to material matters,
money, wealth, possession, richness, fame, family, children, wife, relatives
and companion etc. have fleeting nature, hence the loss of any of these above
mentioned would definitely hurl the Jeeva into deep distress and anguish. If
you do not take shelter in the Ramanama, even if you go near the sacred waters
of Ganga, your thirst will not get satiated, will not achieve any relief, or
even if you go near the Kalpavruksha, none of your wishes get fulfilled. If you
don’t take shelter in Ramanama, you will not achieve serenity of mind or get freed
from the redundant thoughts while in the three states of Jagrath, Swapna, and Sushupthi/awaken,
dream and sleep, the Jeeva who does not take shelter in the Ramanama would take
several births in different Yoni, for several Yugas, none of the austerities, or
Tapasya, or Vows, will not protect them from the vicious cycles of rebirth, the
nectar-like sumptuous meal served will be equivalent to deadly poison. Oh! Tulsi, people like you have Mahamanthra Ramanama as wealth, it is the only life-giving nectar in the three Kala and three worlds,
like the fishes cannot live without the water.”
