Sri
Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, you have drenched in the worldly matters of
possession, richness, money, wealth, children, fame, wife, relatives,
companion, etc. you have taken great pleasure in the infinite Shabdha/sounds,
Sparsha/touch, Rasa/passion, Roopa/appearances, and Gandha/smell, etc. even
after knowing that these material and physical pleasures have fleeting nature. Oh!
Mortals, you have been arrogant to everyone and proud of your clan, wealth,
family, etc. eventually you have forgotten your existence, that is the supreme Lord
Sri Hari who resides as a soul in you. Oh! Unfortunate, you have not sung in
praise of Lord Sri Hari who removes the three kinds of grief of worldly
existence, sins, and impurities of the Kali era. Oh! Ignorant one, you have taken
great pleasure in the worldly matters of impermanent nature and pushed yourself
into extreme grief and agony, like the parrot takes a nib on the bitter fruit
and gets disappointed. Oh! Unfortunate, you have not performed the righteous
deeds, you have not followed truthfulness or performed deeds for the welfare of
the society, you haven’t taken pleasure in singing the glorious legends and
virtues of supreme Lord Sri Hari, or did not even enter the place where the worship
of Lord has been conducted. Oh! Ignorant, how could you please Lord Sri Hari? Or
achieve his auspicious grace without singing in praise of him?”
