Chapter – 6 – Chanakya Neethi 11 – 22
Rishi Chanakya speaks “The powerful
enemies are 1) father who brought heavy financial burden to the family 2) mother
who works as a prostitute 3) most beautiful wife 4) and an ignorant son. The wise
deeds are 1) influence the greedy person offering wealth 2) please the adamant
people bowing before them 3) please the ignorant by praising them and 4)
influence the scholar with truthful words. The most promising acts are 1) it is
unwise to live in a kingdom ruled by a wicked and dull-minded/Kuraja; in that
case, it is better to live in a Kingdom where there is no ruler at all. 2) It is
better to have no companion, in case of evil-minded as companion/Kumithra 3) it
is better to have no disciple, in case of a wicked one /Kushishya as disciple 4)
it is better not to have a wedded wife if she is morally wrong/Kudhara. The unrewarding deeds are 1) it is impossible
to achieve peace and prosperity for the people who are living under the regime
of a wicked ruler. 2) it is impossible to achieve peace of mind living with an
evil-minded companion 3) it is impossible to achieve peace and serenity in the
family in the presence of a wife who is morally wrong 4) it is impossible to
achieve honor or fame giving lessons to a dull-minded disciple. It is advisable
to learn 1) One virtue from lion and crane respectively, learn commitment from
the lion and dedication from the crane/ Baka.
Lion has the nature to attack its prey be it small or big, once its
pounced, do not leave in the middle, continue to attack its prey until getting hands on it. The crane has the nature to hunt
the fishes standing on one leg and make-believe asleep, they eagerly wait for
