Sri Ganapathi Sthothram by Sri Adishankaracharya – Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha/Sindhoorananam, who has great effulgence, attractive white teeth, wielded in Pasham and Ankusham, two hands are in Abhya/shelter and Vara/boon posture, he has four hands and three eyes, he is adorned in serpent across the chest as Yajjopaveetha, and he is seated on the fully blossomed lotus flower.  He is decorated in marvelous crown and earrings, sparkling ornaments as armlets, and gem studded bangles, he has intense luster, and he carries two lotus flowers that are freshly bloomed during the hours of early dawn, he is decked in beautiful anklets made of precious yellow metal, I shall meditate upon Lord Ganesha who  is seated on a marvelous throne decorated with attractive chamaras, he has pleasant disposition and he resides in supreme celestial abode which steals the intellect of the poets and intellectuals, he eradicates severe perils and sins, he symbolizes the syllables of Kshadakshara, his appearance resembles to Gajendhra/King of elephants.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Ganesha/Thundhilam, who is worshiped by Virinchi/Lord Bhrama and Lord Vishnu, he is eulogized by Viroopaksha, illustrious Rishis and Sages who are desired to envision Lord Gireesha  offers initial offering and  venerates Lord Ganesha, he is the dearest son of Vamalochana who is worshiped by Suras and Asuras and pious devotees,  I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who is enthusiastic and has great radiance of Adithya, he has pleasant disposition, accompanied by the divine sounds of drum, arouses the intellect of the pious, he is supreme bliss and supremely gorgeous with the wide ears resembles to elephant, he is the provider of liberation from repeated births to his passionate devotees, hence I shall earnestly prostrate before Lord Vakrathuna who is the commander of Ganas.  Whoever reads or listens to the above glorious verses praising the splendor of Lord Ganesha with utmost faith and devotion would be relieved from poverty and miseries,  these verses are capable to fulfil all the desires of the worshiper, he/she would be blessed with virtuous offspring, family, relatives, and companions.

Yekakshara Ganapathi Sthavam by Maheshvara/Thrailokhya Mohana Kavacham – Sri Rudrayamala Thanthram – Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who is the remover of all kinds of obstacles, he is worshiped by deities at the beginning of all endeavors.


Goddess Sri Parvathi speaks “ Oh! Bhagavan, Oh! Devadevesha/Lord of Lords, who always works for the welfare of the Universe and its living beings, I would like to listen to the glorious Kavacham of Yekakashara Manthra which is highly pleasing to intellect as well as soul, kindly narrate those glorious verses which are dearest to me in the prescribed format.”


Lord Shiva speaks “ Oh! Devi, kindly listen to me carefully to the  highly propitious hymns of  Yekakshara Manthra which is capable to fulfil all the desires of the worshiper, rememberance of those marvelous verses would remove all kinds of obstacles, worshiper should receite these auspicious hymns thrice/dawn, noon and dusk or once in a day on regular basis, it will eradicates all the fears in battle fields and while expedition on mountain peaks, it would protect the worshiper from Bhootha/spirit Vethala, and evil effects caused from changes in planetary positions, whoever recites these glorious verses of Gananayaka, even the unwise would turn into intelligent with all kinds of siddhi/supernatural powers, these sacred armor of Lord Ganesha are superior among the sacred hymns and it is highly confidential, it is hardly ever known to the world of humans.”   


The following are the propitious hymns which is highly confidential was narrated by Lord Mahesha, Yekakshara Mahamanthra is praising the splendor of Lord Ganesha, it has Thrishutp as Chandhas, eulogizes the glories of presiding deity Lord Vighnesha.  It has ‘Gam’ as Beejam, and Omkara as Shakthi, it is recited to fulfil all the desires of the worshiper, and  it removes all kinds obstructions.

Dhyanam –

 I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vighnaraja, who eradicates all kinds of fears of worshiper, he is decked in crescent moon, he has the luster of crimson colored lotus flower, he has the brilliance of Lord Adithya, he is seated on the lustrous lotus flower, he has three eyes, he is wielded in Pasham and Angusham shakthi, he have elephant face, he is adorned in serpent as sacred thread across the chest, and two hands showers Abhaya/shelter and Varadha/boons hastha posture respectively.


Kavacham –


“I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha to protect our head, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Gajanana to protect our organs, I shall earnestly pray to Lord  Ganapathi to protect our eyes, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Gajakarnna to our ears, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Gananatha to protect our  cheeks, I shall earnestly  pray to Lord Ganesha who is worshiped by Gandharvas to protect our sensory organs, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who has attractive appearances to protect our face, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is the dearest son of Goddess Girija to protect our chin, I shall earnestly pray to  Lord Ganesha who is highly enthusiastic leader of Ganas to protect our tongue, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha to protect our teeth, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Vinayaka to protect our words, I shall  earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Mahothkada to protect us from all kinds of perils, I shall  earnestly pray to Lord Gajaskandha to protect our back of shoulders, I shall  earnestly pray to Lord Vighnanashana to protect our arms, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Heramba to protect our hands, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is mighty Lord/Mahabala to protect our chest, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganapathi to  protect our hearts, I shall earnestly pray to Lord  Mahodhara/Lord who have pot belly to protect our stomach, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is compassionate to  protect our navel, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is adorable to Suras/beloved of Suras to protect our back portions, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Vikada to protect our waist areas, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who worships Lord Guha to protect our productive organs, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is the commander of Ganas to protect our thighs, calves, etc..  I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Gajapradha/chief of Gaja, he is fond of Dhurjadi/Dhurjadipriya to protect our knee and ankles respectively, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Dhurjjaya to protect our feet, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is the leader of Ganas/Gananayaka to protect our all joints, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Amodha to protect from foremost part, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Pramodha to protect us from backwards, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Siddhesha to protect us from south, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Vighnadhararchitha to protect us from the left, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Chinthamani Vinayaka to protect us from east, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Vakrathunda to protect us from south-eastern, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is the son of Uma/Umasutha to protect us from southern part,  I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha/Ganeshvara who is the remover of obstacle to proect us from south-western parts, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who have wide big ears of elephant/Gajakarnna to protect us from northwest, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is Eshanandhana/ dearest son of Lord Mahesha, he symbolizes wealth and all supernatural powers  to protect us from north-east, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha/Vinayaka to protect from upper regions, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha who is mounted on celestial vehicle mouse to protect us from the base, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Ganesha /Gajanana to protect us during day hours  that has intense luster of Goksheera, let Lord of Ganakreeda protect us during the hours of dark, let Lord of Sura protect us during the hours of Sandhya/confluence of day-noon, noon-evening, and early hours of dawn,  I shall earnestly pray to Lord Gajanana  who is wielded in Pasham and Angusham to protect us from evil spirits and evil effects caused by the changes in planetary positions, I shall prostrate before Lord Ganesha who symbolizes Sathvam, Rajas, Thamo gunas, speaking abilities, intellect, wisdom, Vedas, compassion, Chathurvidha Dharma, Lakshmi/wealth, Lajja, Keerthi/fame, illustrious clan etc.. I shall earnestly pray to Shankarathmaja/dearest darling son of Lord Shankara, he is Sriman, he is Ekadhantha who  is the provider of abundance of wealth, grain, house, family, virtuous offspring, suitable companion to his fervent devotees. Oh! Devi, whoever reads or listens to the above glorious verses once or twice a day with utmost faith and devotion would be blessed with fame and all kinds of supernatural powers, these are highly propitious and confidential hymns which is capable to eradicate all kinds of sins of the worshiper, it fulfils all the desires of the worshiper within a period of six months, supreme Lord Ganesha is remover of obstacles and all that evil effects caused by the changes in planetary positions, he is the destroyer of enemies, he is the protector from all perils, Oh! Devi, Yekakshara Ganapathi Kavacham is highly propitious and confidential that remves all the obstacles of the worshiper, it should be recited by following strict austerities and worship Lord  Ganadhipa.  ”


The above are the Ekakshara Mahamanthra is sacred armor praising the glories of Lord Ganesha was narrated by Lord Mahesha, it is higly propitious hymns which provides all kinds of siddhis to worshiper.

Rishi speaks “ I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Ganesha who has no birth/Aja, he is beyond human intellect/Nirvikalpam, he has no specific form/Nirakaram, he doesnot requires any support system/self supported/Niralambam, he is the essence of Adhvaitha/unique, ultimate truth, he is eternal bliss/Chidhanandharoopam, he is supreme Lord, he is beyond gunas/properties, he is matchless, he is devoid of desires/nireeham, he is Parambhramam.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Ganesha who is incomparable, he is beyond description, he symbolizes Chidhanandham/eternal bliss, he is attainable through intense devotion and dedication, he is eulogized by Rishis and sages, he symbolizes sky, and he is the supreme Lord who is Parambhramam.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Ganesha who is the source of Universe and its living beings, he symbolizes supreme wisdom and knowledge, he is Ganesha/Lord of Ganas, he is Gunesha/who symbolizes virtues, he is supreme Lord who receives initial offerings/Suradhim/Lord of Lords, he is the provider of well being/Sukhadhim, he is all pervading, he is worshiped by the Universe, he is Lord of Lords, he is Prambhramam.  I shall prostrate before the  supreme Lord Ganesha who  symbolizes Parambhramam, he is devoid of passion, he is  source all fields of knowledge and Universe, he is  Bhramaroopam, he is the essence of Shruthi, he is attainable through intense devotion and dedication,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who symbolizes Vishvam, he has various incarnations, he symbolizes supreme knowledge, he is ultimate truth, he is highly enthusiastic, he is the protector of deities from the demons, he is the protector of Universe and its living beings as well,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who is Rudraroopam/essence of Rudra, he has three eyes, he is the source of Universe and protector of the same, he is the source of supreme wisdom and knowledge, he is the essence of all Agamashasthras, he enlightens the knowledge of various philosophies to his fervent devotees, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who  is the essence of Parambhrama, he is the symbol of Thrayivedha/Rig, Yajur,  and Sama, he eradicates Thamasic nature/darkness of ignorance in his worshiper, he imparts supreme wisdom to illustrious Rishis and Sages, he is devoid of desires and passions, he is  Ganesha who symbolizes Bhramaroopam,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who is the Lord of Bhramins who sincerely follows Bhraminic rites/Dhvijesham, he has the luster of moon/Shashangasvaroopam, he is the protector from the harsh rays of sun, he spreads streams of nectar like bliss to deities, he symbolizes greatest medicines.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who symbolizes supreme radiance/Prakashasvaroopam, air/Vayuroopam, passions, various art forms, he is Shakthisvaroopam and he is the cause and source of all actions, he is Shakthiroopam, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who receives initial salutation, he is all pervading,  he is the essence greatest philosophies, he  represents Universe and all deities, he is the source of Universe and its living beings, he represents Universe.  Whoever meditates upon the lotus feet of supreme Lord Ganesha would be freed the troubles and obstacles, like the worshiper under the rays and remain freed from all kinds all the troubles. Oh! Vishvambara/Lord who is embodied as Earth/protector of Earth, we are completely soaked in illusion, people who are surrendered at your lotus feet would be relieved from darkness of ignorance, hence kindly protect us.  Oh! Mahamune, Lord Ganesha would get highly pleased by the recitation of above sacred verses,  Oh! Lord  kindly provide us intense devotion at your lotus feet.”

Sri Subramanya Dhyanam – Lyrics and meanings

I shall surrender to the lotus feet of Lord Guha who has six marvelous faces that has the luster of vermilion, illustrious son of Lord Rudhra who has divine peacock as celestial vehicle; he is the commander of army of deities.  I shall meditate upon Lord Sharavana who is the son of Lord Eesha, he is decked in magnificent golden earrings on his six faces, he is decorated in precious ornaments all over his body, and he is decked in powerful weapons.  I shall worship and prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is the provider of all kinds of auspiciousness, his beautiful face is decorated with vermilion that spreads intense luster of moon, he is decked in Keyoora/armlets and bracelets, and Hara/garlands, various precious ornaments all over his body, he is the provider of all kinds of well-being equivalent to the celestial abode heaven, he carries lotus flower, Shakthi, Kukkudam and a hand in Abhayahastha posture.  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is wielded in  powerful weapon Shakthi/shakthidharam, he is the dearest son of Lord Shiva,  I shall prostrate before the Lord of Pulindha/Pulindhapathi/consort of Goddess Valli,  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya whose lotus face has the brilliances of thousands of Lord Adithya,  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is mounted on celestial vehicle peacock, I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who carries Kukkudam/hen, he is most favorable to deities,  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is too compassionate,  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who resides in the abode decorated with the flowers of Kalpaka,  I shall always prostrate before Lord Guha who has six faces/ Shanmugha.   He has powerful twelve arms, he has six faces, he is the son of Goddess Ambika, he is Kumara who has the brilliance of Lord Adithya,  I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is mounted on celestial vehicle peacock, he is initiated from colossal fire, he is powerful warrior, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Subramanya to fulfil all our desires.  I shall meditate upon Lord Shanmugha who has six faces that has the luster of moon and he is the essence of loveliness, brilliance of precious ornaments, decked in marvelous gem studded crown that spreads the luster of Adithya in the early hours of dawn, he is decked in bracelets and armlets, magnificent earrings on ears that spreads luster on the neck areas, he is decorated in beautiful Kanganam and Kingini etc…  I shall meditate upon Lord Guha who is the dearest son of Lord Shiva, who symbolizes Dhvadhashakshara, he is decked  in Banam, Gedakam, Angusham, Pasham, Dhanur, Chakram, Vajram, Shakthi, trident, and one hand in Abhayahastha posture, he has six faces, he is decorated with Cchathra and mounted on celestial vehicle peacock.  I shall repreatedly prostrate before Gangeya/son of sacred Ganga, who is conceived from colossal fire, he is appeared in the sacred pond, he symbolizes wisdom and valor, he is loveliest child Subramanya, he is  Lord of deities, he is Guha who is eternal and has the brilliance of Lord Rudra, he is the commander of army of deities and the stars in the milky way.  I shall prostrate before Lord of Lords/ Devadeva Lord Subramanya along with Lord Gajamukha/Ganesha, he is Karthikeya and Shadanana and Subramanya as well, I shall prostrate before Lord Subramanya who is Devadeva/Lord of Lords mounted on the celestial vehicle peacock along with majestic flag positioned in the grand chariot.

Sri Gayathri Kavacham – Vashishta Samhitha - Lyrics and meanings

Yajjavalkya speaks “ Oh! Swamin, Oh! Jagannatha, kindly narrate the glorious myth of Bhramaroopam which is highly propitious and treatise of 64 art forms, that protects from severe perils and miseries, I would like to listen to  the sacred armor of divine embodied as sacred hymns, kindly describe them in a prescribed manner.”


Lord Bhrama replied “ Goddess Gayathri Kavacham is composed by Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva, it has Rig, Yajur, Sama  and Atharvana as Chandhass, it is recited to eulogise the glories of  Parambhramaswaroopa Goddess Sri Gayathri.  Goddess Bhuvaneshvari is the protector of all and all the living beings remains protected with her grace, without her protective armor everything remains defenseless, it has Bhargam/splendor and Yukthi  as Beejam, Dheeyam/intelligence as Keelakam, it is recited to attain Purushartha, it is recited by assuming the presence of Rishi on head, Nyasa on  face, Devatha in heart, Beejam in highly confidential place, Shakthi on  feet, Keelakam on navel, she is Mahavidhya who symbolizes 32 syllables, she represents Sankhyayana Gothram, it is recited Dvadhashalaksha (12 + Laksha) times along with appropriate Nyasa and Karangam/offerings with particular gestures  to get abundance of pieties, proper utterance of words consisting of four syllables three times with Anuloma and Viloma, followed with Karanganyasa, Dhasha mudra is  used  to invoke Goddess Sri Gayathri who is the the protector of each and every limbs and point of intersection, it is followed by meditation, Mudra/gestures, Namaskaram, reciting hymns praising the glories of preceptor etc..  would provide highly meritorious rewards.”


“ Sri Gayathri Kavacham is highly propitious hymns composed by Lord  Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Rudra, it has Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana as Chandhass, presiding deity is Parambhrama Swaroopini Goddess Sri Gayathri, it has  Bhur as Beejam, Bhuva: as Shakthi, Svaha as Keelakam, it is recited to please Goddess Sri Gayathri.”


I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Gayathri who has great splendor, carries water vessel on her hand, she is pure and has supreme effulgence, she is the essence of all philosophies, she is the mother of sacred Veda/Vedamatha, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting  Om Bhur Bhuva: Svaha: Thath Savithur and assume her eternal presence in my heart, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting Om Bhur Bhuva: Svaha: Varenyam and assume her eternal presence on my head, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting Om Bhur Bhuva: Svaha: Bhargo Devasya and assume her eternal presence on my tuft, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting Om Bhur Bhuva: Svaha: Dheemaheethi and assume her eternal presence as protective shield, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting Om Bhur Bhuva: Svaha: Dheeyo Yo Na: and assume her eternal presence on my eyes, I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Gayathri by reciting Om Bhur Bhuva: Sva: Prachodhayath as Asthra.”


"I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Gayathri who symbolizes liberation from repeated births, she is stunningly gorgeous, she has beautiful face and has luster of blue, she is decked in marvelous gem studded crown, she is the essence of Veda and sacred scriptures, she is Goddess Gayathri who carries Angusham, trident, Kapalam, Shakham, Chakram, lotus flower on one hand, two hands are in Varada/boons and Abhaya/shelter hastha postures,  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Gayathri earlier, I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Savithri on south, I shall meditate upon Goddess Saraswathi on north, Kindly bless us with Bhramavidhya,  I shall earnestly pray to Goddess Gayathri to protect us from all directions and protect us from evil spirits, Oh! Rudrani kindly protect us from all directions, Oh! Bhramani, Oh! Vaishnavi kindly protect us from upwards, Oh! Bhuvaneshvari kindly protect us from ten directions, I shall offer salutation and remember Bhramasthra that would provide clarity in speech, I shall offer salutation and remember Bhramadhandam that would protect from all fierce weapons, I shall offer salutation and remember Bhramasheersha which would protect from enemies, Oh! Vedamatha who symbolizes Sahasrakshara, kindly protects us always with the Devisooktham,  Oh! Devatha, who symbolizes Chathushashti Kala and Beejashakthi kindly protects us. I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Gayathri kindly protects waist areas and navel of all the living beings, heart and throat, tongue and eyes, forehead and head, ears and nose, cheeks and lips, neck areas and upper part of arms, hands, Oh! Jathavedethi, Oh! Gayathri,  Oh! Thrayambakethi who symbolizes Dhashakshara, kindly protects our ankle and feet, let those 24 syllables of sacred Gayathri hymns protects our all body parts, above are the sacred armor of Goddess Gayathri, she is Shodashi whose armor is capable to remove all kinds of miseries and perils of the worshiper, whoever recites or listens to the sacred armor of Goddess Gayathri would provide Chathushashtikala, wisdom and knowledge and prosperity, it would eradicates all the sins committed to women, cows, Bhramin, companions, and various sins, ultimately it would leads to Parambhrama, whoever perform veneration of Goddess Gayathri with fresh alluring flowers, and recitation of sacred hymns would provide the pieties of hundreds and thousands of years worship, adoration of sacred hymns of Goddess Gayathri on throat and Shikha would provide abundance of pieties, Gayathri Mahamanthram would bring the honor of Jeevanmuktha to the worshiper, Oh! Viprendhra, veneration of Goddess for Shatham Sahasrakam, Dhasha Shatham Ashtotharam Shatham would bring abundance of merits, Oh! Vipra, veneration of Goddess Gayathri during the hours sandhya with utmost faith and devotion, recitation of sacred hymns of Gayathri and performance of rite in appropriates hours would bring all kinds of siddhis, recitation of sacred hymns with prescribed rite would bring abundance of meritorious rewards and eradicates sins committed in various births,  Oh! Vipra, it should be performed early hours of dawn, noon and dusk, it should be recited with prescribed discipline, Panchopacharam, Homadhravyam etc.. it would bring the proficiency in sacred hymns like Sage Vishvamithra,  Vedavyasa, Vachaspathi who are fervent devotees of  Devi, recitation of sacred hymns of Goddess Gayathri for Sahasra/thousands of times would eradicate miseries and perils, recitation of thousands and millions of times would eradicate severe perils and miseries, recitation of crores of times would bring all that desires by the worshiper and long life."
