Sri Yamunashtakam III – Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall meditate upon Goddess Yamuna who is the daughter of Lord Surya, she is compassionate, she is the destroyer of sorrows and grief, she is dearest darling of Lord Murari, she destroys the sorrows and perils of Samsara, she is the provider of abundance of boons like Goddess Mahalakshmi to her devotees, she is constantly venerated by intellectuals.  She gracefully flows through the Madhuvanam, she is the daughter of Bhaskara/soorya, she merrily confluences with Jahnukanya, she is the daughter of ocean, she is the delight of Madhuripu, she destroys the fears of the cow herds of Gokulam, she is the destroyer of sins of living beings, she is the cause for the amorous sport of Lord Krishna with the cow herds, Victory to Yamuna! Who is the destroyer of sorrows and fears I shall earnestly pray to purify me.  She is gorgeous with her frivolous nature, she flows swiftly through the peaks, she protects the virtuous people and destroys the wicked,  she has attractive movements, she destroys the sins and perils of the people of Vraja, she shower grace on righteous people,  Victory to Goddess Yamuna ! Who is the destroyer of sorrows and fears I shall earnestly pray to purify me. She protects the people who are surrendered to her and the people who are besieged with intense sorrows, un intellect, people surrounded by constant dangers, people who are not aware of their responsibilities, people besieged with Runabhayam and people over burdened with the sins that are impossible to get rid off.  Victory to Yamuna! Who is the destroyer of sorrows and fears I shall earnestly pray to purify me.  She has the complexion of dark clouds, decked in various precious jewels, attired in majestic yellow garments that spread intense brilliance which is capable to conquer the radiance of Adithya, Victory to Yamuna! Who is capable to destroy all the sorrows and perils, I shall earnestly pray to purify me.  Her river banks are highly auspicious, she has become significant part of the amorous sport of Lord Krishna, her high raised bosom is decked in attractive pearl and gem studded garlands that spread superior luster all around, Victory to Yamuna ! Who is the destroyer of sorrows and fears I shall earnestly pray to purify me.   She is decked in precious nose ring which is made of the pearl from the forehead of elephant, her attractive face reveals intense luster that attracts the pack of honey bees, her whole face is luminous in the luster of gem studded ear rings, Victory to Yamuna ! Who is the destroyer of sorrows and fears I shall earnestly pray to purify me.  Her lotus feet is decked in magnificent anklets that spread intense shine and  makes jingling noises as well, she makes attractive noise while walking  which is extremely pleasing, she destroys all the sins of worshiper whoever surrendered to her lotus feet, Victory to Yamuna ! Who is the destroyer of all kinds of fear and sorrows, I shall earnestly pray to purify me.
