Sri Bhagavathi Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddesss who is the source of welfare and happiness, she is the mother of Lord Shanmukha, she symbolizes peace and serenity, she is inseparable from Purahara who is the slayer of demons of Thripura, she resides on lotus flower, she is supreme bliss, she is dearly protected by Pashupathi, she eradicates miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, she eradicates worldly bondage of the worshiper, kindly protect us, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddess who is the source of welfare and happiness, she is the slayer of demon Madhukaitabha, she speaks compassionately/sweetly, she has personified as daughter of illustrious Rishis and Kings on Earth, she is source of delight of Bhava as well Hara, she takes immense pleasure in amorous sport, she is the source of delight of pious and righteous people, she has beautiful matted hair locks, she is Bhavani who is the presiding deity of illustrious clans, she is adorned in vermilion, she is adorned in beautiful bangles which makes clattering noises, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddesss who is the source of welfare and happiness, she is the source of nourishment, she has the loveliness of swan, she is mounted on celestial vehicle lion, she has embodied as Earth, she resides in Sripura, she is the source of welfare and happiness of devotees surrendered at her lotus feet, her lotus feet are the safest heaven, she resides on the highest peak of Mount Kailash, she is Gururoopini, she is adorned in magnificent earrings, she lures the heart of Shambhu with her mesmerizing beauty, she crushed the pride of demon Nishumbha, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddess who is the source of welfare and happiness, she symbolizes triumph, she is unconquerable, she is adorned in crisp and pure garment, she is pure, she has the luster of lotus flower, she is adorned in garlands of lotus flower, she is adorned in various precious ornaments of yellow metal, she has the luster of gold, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddesss who is the source of welfare and happiness, she is the provider of abundance of boons, she has no desires, she is the provider of happiness and prosperity, she symbolizes boons, she is the protector of Ganas, she engages in various passionate sports, she merrily explores through the dense wood, she resides on the highest peak of Vindhyachala, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddesss who is the source of welfare and happiness, she eradicates distress and wretchedness, she resides in the lotus like heart of worshiper, she has the luster of Emerald, she guides us through the righteous path, she is the worshiped by Mura and Hara, she resides on the peak of Malayachala, she is adorned in various precious ornaments, she liberates the soul from repeated births, she eradicates fears and anxieties, she has various incarnations, she is most venerable, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddesss who is the source of welfare and happiness, she takes immense pleasure in playing melodious music, she symbolizes auspiciousness and all sacred chants, she is the essence of Vedic hymns, she is adorned in magnificent gem decorated crown, she speaks melodiously, she resides in the supreme abode of Manidhveepa, she takes immense pleasure in melodious music, she entice the Universe with her loveliness,  she takes immense delight in playing the music instrument Veena, singing and the sounds of flute, I shall prostrate before Goddess Parvathi/ShivA along with Lord Shambu, who has personified as Bhagavathi as well as Bharathi, Victory to supreme Goddess who is the source of welfare and happiness, her eyes has the appearance of lotus flower petals, she resides on the lotus flower, she has the rich fragrance of lotus flower, she holds lotus flower on hand, she is adorned in lotus flower garland, she takes immense pleasure in the consumption of nectar, she resides on the lotus flower and her auspicious feet resembles to lotus flower, whoever reads or listens to the above verses praising the splendor of Goddess Bhagavathi/Paramambika, would be freed from unexpected or accidental death, fear and anxieties,  worshiper would be blessed with virtuous offspring and grandchildren, abundance of wealth and grains.

I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess/Bhagavathi,  Devi who is the provider of abundance of boons to worshiper, Victory to divine personified as Bhagavathi who destroys the sins of the worshiper and provides various boons, Victory to supreme Goddess who killed demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, she is decked in garlands of skull, I shall prostrate before Devi who eradicates excessive worldly desires of the worshiper.  Victory to supreme Goddess, who has Chandhra and Surya as eyes, Victory to supreme Goddess who is pure, she is adorned in various ornaments, she showers auspicious fleeting look on worshiper, Victory to supreme Goddess, who merged into the body of Lord Bhairava, she is Para, Victory to supreme Goddess who destroyed Andhaka Dhaithyas, Victory to supreme Goddess who killed demon Mahisha with her powerful trident, Victory to supreme Goddess who eradicates all the sins in the world, Victory to supreme Goddess who is worshiped by Pithamaha/Lord Bhrama and Lord Vishnu, Bhaskara and Shakra/might warriors/Indhra are prostrate before her, Victory to supreme Goddess who provided powerful spear to Shanmukha/ son of Esha, Victory to supreme Goddess who is personified as daughter of Sagara, she is the female force of Shambhu, Victory to supreme Goddess who destroys sorrows and sufferings of poverty, Victory to supreme Goddess who bless her devotees with virtuous offsprings and appropriate companion, Victory to supreme Goddess who has various incarnations at her own will, Victory to supreme Goddess who destroys miseries and sorrows of the worshiper, she is the provider of heaven to passionate worshiper, Victory to supreme Goddess who eradicates severe illnesses, she provides liberation from repeated births to worshiper, Victory to supreme Goddess who fulfils all the desires of the worshiper, she provides various siddhis to worshiper.  The above are the sacred verses praising the splendor of supreme Goddess  Bhagavathi was composed by Maharishi Vedavyasa, it should be recited with intense devotion and faith, followed by austerities.  Bhagavathi would get highly pleased and bless worshiper with her eternal presence in their homes.
