Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham - The significance of Gurupadhasevanam/the service at the lotus feet of Preceptor

Chapter – 11 – Sri Guru Gita – 101 – 108

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi, the worship of preceptor would bring the highly propitious Mukthi, hence Gurupadhasevanam is the superior method to achieve Moksha, the Jeeva without even the Gnana/wisdom, achieve the superior state free from Dhvandhabhava/happiness and sorrow, like and dislike, grace and disgrace, and vicious cycles of rebirth. The preceptor is the supreme Bhramam, which is beyond comparison or description, was eulogized as ‘Nethi Nethi’ by the Veda and Vedantha. Therefore, the preceptor is most venerable by word, mind, and deeds. The trinities, Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Rudra achieved exceptional skills in the respective function of creation, preservation, and destruction with the grace of the preceptor, even   the deities, Yaksha, Kinnara, Gandharva, Pithru, Thumbhuru, and Muni are not aware of the detailed method of the worship of Gurushushrusha/service to Guru. Oh! Priye, even the Tharkkika who is profound in Tharkkashasthra, the Chandhasak who is profound in Vedic texts, the Upasakas who is profound in Upasanakhanda of the Veda, and the Karmada who is excellent in Karmakanda/Karmakandi and Laukika/the ordinary people are not aware of the Guru Thaththvam elaborately. These exceptionally skilled scholars and intellectuals hurl themselves into the vicious cycles of rebirth, due to the swollen pride in their Tapasya, knowledge, and austerities. They get perplexed due to the pride, and keep hurling themselves into the never-ending cycle of worldly existence, like the Ghatiyanthra/the needles in the clock. Oh! Devi, the Jeeva who is far from the preceptor or has not achieved the knowledge of Guru Thaththva or not understood the significance of the worship of Guru or the recitation of Guru Manthra, won’t achieve Mukthi, even if they perform a sequence of Yajja, Yaga, several spiritual and religious rites, Tapas, Yogabhyasya, etc. would remain unfruitful and it is same with the Gandharva, Pithrus, Yaksha, Charana, Siddha,  Rishaya, and deities too.”

Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham - The nearness of the Preceptor would remove even the air of grief of worldly existence – The significance of Dhandanamaskara

Chapter – 10 – Sri Guru Gita – 91 – 100

Lord Mahadeva speaks “ Oh! Devi, the syllable ‘Gu’ represents Gunatheetha/ beyond virtues, and ‘Ru’ represents Roopavarjjitha/ invisible/lack of specific appearance. The Supreme Preceptor introduces the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam that is beyond the Triguna/attributes of Tamasik, Rajasik and Sathwik nature, and has no specific appearance, resides as soul/Athman. Oh! Priye, the preceptor is the one who represents Trinities/Bhrama, Vishnu, and Shiva, he is the essence of three-eyed Lord Shiva, four-armed Lord Vishnu, and four-faced Lord Bhrama. I shall earnestly pray with the folded palm to the preceptor to protect the ignorant Jeeva already drenched in the material matters of richness, wealth, fame, possession, money, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion, and constantly undergoes miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence in the absence of any of the above, ultimately hurls themselves into the vicious cycles of rebirth. Therefore, I stood with folded hands before the preceptor, and pray to shower his compassionate grace upon the Jeeva and protects them from the vicious cycles of rebirth, and provide Moksha. The unfortunate Jeeva cannot achieve the nearness of the Preceptor, like the blind cannot see the brilliance of sunrays. The Preceptor symbolizes supreme wisdom can be achieved and perceived with the Vivekachakshu/intelligence. The Preceptor/Sadhguru should be worshiped thrice a day, of his commendable service for elevating the souls of crores of the clan, imparting the knowledge of self’ Athma Paramathma, the indestructible Purusha resides as soul and the destructible Prakrithi, thereby destroying the interest in worldly matters and bondage, I and body consciousness, the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya in the Jeeva, and inspires them to undertake austerities, observance of celibacy and vow, Shamadhamadhi, Swadhyaya and Athmavichara etc. to achieve the union with the Sacchidhanandaghanaswroopa Paramathma Parambhramam. Oh! Priye, it is important to carry out sincere worships of Guru and reverentially prostrate before the lotus feet of the Preceptor on a regular basis, and bow down before him whichever the direction Guru appears, and sincerely do Sashtanga Namakara/Dhandanamaskara, eulogize his glories and worship him. It would enhance the stability of mind, tranquility, steadfastness and perseverance in the Jeeva. Oh! Devi, the Ashtanga Namaskara is surrendering all the limbs such as Dhorbhyam/hand, Padhabhyam/feet, Jaghnubhyam/leg, knee, calves, Urasa/chest portion, Shirasa/head, Dhrishya/eyes, Manasa/mind and intellect, Vachasa/words to the preceptor, and prostrate before him. The preceptor is the Nithyasakshi/perpetual witness of the Nithyapralaya/creation, preservation, and destruction of material matters/Prakrithi, hence the Mumukshu prostrates before that Bhagavan Guruchakravarthi, conducts worship and eulogizes him on a regular basis. Oh! Devi, what’s the benefit of undertaking strenuous Tapasya and austerities for several years to remove the impurities of mind? What’s the use of undertaking extremely difficult tasks like hundreds of Pranayama that cannot remove the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence permanently? Therefore, it is necessary to worship and contemplate upon the lotus feet of Guru who removes even the air of grief with his mere presence.”

Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham – The Guru Padhodhaka is sacred as waters of Ganga which purifies the mind and intellect of the worshiper

Chapter – 9 – Sri Guru Gita – 81 – 90

Lord Mahadeva speaks “I shall prostrate before the supreme preceptor who symbolizes Universe/Bhramam, Guru is none other the Bhramam, the Universe dwells in the heart of Guru and vice versa. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor who guides the Jeeva caught in the middle of Bhavaranya/dense wood of worldly existence, perplexed and worn out of delusion, drenched in the interest in worldly matters and bondage, became completely exhausted and hopeless, finding no way to get out of the miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor, who purifies the Jeeva drenched in the Thapathraya/ Adhideivika, Adhibhauthika, and Adhyathmika, thereby completely worn out, and lost serenity of the mind. The preceptor purifies the intellect of the Jeeva with the knowledge of Bhramam like sacred water Ganga. I shall prostrate before supreme preceptor who symbolizes Vidhyaswaroopa Bhagavan/Lord of wisdom, he cures the Jeeva who was bitten by the venomous serpent-like ignorance/Vishayavisha/interest in worldly matters and bondage, I and body consciousness, excessive desires and attachment to material matters, possession, richness, wealth, fame, money, children, wife, companion, and relatives, etc. I shall prostrate before the supreme preceptor who symbolize Shambhu, he is the supreme Bhramam who is the cause of the Universe and its living and non-living things, he is the safest bridge to cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence, he is the essence of knowledge in Agama Nigama Shastra and all art forms. Oh! Devi, the fruitfulness in the meditation and contemplation can be achieved only with the grace of Guru, the sincere veneration at the lotus feet of Guru would provide the fruitfulness of the worship, the superior among the Manthra/Mahamanthra is Gurumanthra that can be achieved with the nearness to the Guru, and the Mukthi can be achieved with the grace of Guru. The Gurupadhodhaka/the consumption of even a drop of water that was used to wash the feet of the preceptor would provide the piousness of the holy dip in the all those rivers that confluences in the Sapthasagara/seven oceans. Oh! Devi, even the wrath of Lord Shiva can get rid with the grace of Guru, but the wrath of Guru is impossible to get relieved. Therefore, the Jeeva should surrender to the Kulaguru/preceptor of the clan, and get rid of the wrath of Guru. The honey bees approach several flowers in search for the nectar and they keep chasing flowers until and unless they get satisfied, in the same manner, the spiritual seeker who is not satisfied with the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva keeps chases for the Guru. I shall prostrate before the lotus feet of Guru who is beyond Vak, Manas/words and mind symbolizes Shivashakthiswaroopa  and whose feet have the white and reddish color.”

I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor who symbolizes Gnananala/blaze of wisdom, destroys the accumulated Karma/Attributes achieved by the Jeeva in several births. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor whose Padhodhaka/water used to wash the feet would dry up the Bhavasindhu/ocean of worldly existence, and enlightens the Jeeva with the knowledge of impermanent nature of Prakrithi/material matters, richness, wealth, money, possession, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companions, etc. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor whose Thapa, Gnana, Thathva is beyond comparison. Oh! Devi, I shall prostrate before my preceptor Lord Jagannatha, and he is Jagathguru. I am that supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, I am that Sarvabhoothathma. Oh! Devi, I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor, Guru is Adhi/primordial, and eternal as well. Guru is Paramadheivatham, there is no superior Manthra other than the Guru Manthra. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor who is sole Bandhu/companion and relative, during the hours of hardships, Guru is Sakala Dharmathma imparts the knowledge about the duties and responsibilities of the Jeeva prescribed in the scriptures in order to achieve Paramarththa Thaththva and protects the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of rebirth.”

The preceptor represents the Shirorathna/precious jewel adorn on the crown, of Sarva Shruthi, imparts the knowledge of Vedantha and its meanings to his disciple, hence he is most venerable. The sincere worship at the lotus feet of the Preceptor and the mere remembrance of Guru would bring an abundance of piousness and provides wisdom as well. Oh! Devi, the body is the dwelling place of plenty of worms, and a bundle of secrets. It is a component made of Shleshma/Phlegm, Raktham/blood, Thvacha/skin, and Mamsa/meat. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor who protects the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of rebirth, Oh! Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham - Guru is Bhrama - ‘Gu’ is the darkness of ignorance and ‘Ru’ is Thejas/brilliance, Guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance

Chapter - 5 – Sri Guru Gita – 41 – 50

Lord Mahadeva speaks “ Oh! Devi, Mumukshu/Moksharththi who yearn to achieve liberation from the repeated cycles of birth, abandons the pride in Ashramadharma, Swajathi, Swakeerthi, interest in material matters such as possession, money, richness, wealth, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion and takes shelter at the lotus feet of the preceptor. Whoever contemplate and meditate upon the preceptor with Ananyabhakthi/persistent devotion achieves Paramam Sukham/supreme bliss effortlessly, therefore the worship of the preceptor with utmost sincerity and devotion would remove the afflictions of the worldly existence.  Oh! Devi, the Bhramavidhya/knowledge of Athma Paramathma, restored on the lotus face of Guru, can be achieved only with the sincere devotion and veneration of the Preceptor, the Pithrus, Devarishis, and Naras of the three worlds has the same opinion about it. Guru /preceptor removes the darkness of ignorance in his disciple, ‘Gu’ represents the darkness of ignorance, the syllable ‘Ru’ stands for brilliance/Thejas, hence the sacred text ‘Guru’ represents Bhramam, the brilliance that swallows the darkness of ignorance. ‘Gu’ is darkness and ‘Ru’ is brilliance, the preceptor removes the darkness like ignorance with the knowledge of Bhrama Thaththva. ‘Gu’ is beyond virtues and Triguna/Rajasik, Thamasik and Sathvik, and the ‘Ru’ is beyond perception, hence the preceptor is beyond Triguna and specific appearance. ‘Gu’ represents the Maya/the infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya in the Prapancha that has fleeting nature and the ‘Ru’ represents the Parambhramam/Paramathma Purusha which is the essence of wisdom removes the Maya/illusion in the Jeeva. Oh! Devi, it is difficult even for the deities to achieve the lotus feet of a preceptor.  The Preceptors are worshipped by the celestials Haha Huhu Gandharvas, there is nothing superior to Guru Thaththva, therefore the Mumukshu who yearn to achieve liberation from the worldly existence takes the shelter at the lotus feet of preceptor, worship and surrender all his belonging to the preceptor. The sincere disciples  please the preceptor with the simple gestures of offerings such as Asana/seat, Shayanam/bedding, Vasthram/clothing, Vahanam/offering transporting facilities, Bhooshanam/ornaments, etc.”

Chapter - 4 – Sri Guru Gita – 31 – 40

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi, the Gurupadhodhakam/the consumption of water used to wash the feet of Guru would remove the root cause of Avidhya/ignorance in the Jeeva, it would destroy the interest in the performance of the Kamya Karma/spiritual and religious rites performed yearning personal benefits, it would provide Gnana/pure wisdom and Vairagya/sense of abandonment in the Jeeva, therefore it is highly fortunate to drink the Gurupadhodhaka. In order to achieve the eternal grace of preceptor, it is necessary to 1) consume the Gurupadhodhaka, 2) Gurorucchishta Bhojanam/consumption of a leftover meal of Guru 3) Gurudhyanam/contemplation and meditation upon preceptor and the 4) recitation of Gurunama.  The contemplation and meditation upon the lotus feet of the preceptor is the worship of the supreme Lord Shiva who is primordial. The recitation of the glories of Guru is the worship of that supreme Lord Shiva. Oh! Devi, the worship of the preceptor is a superior deed and it would help the Jeeva to cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence effortlessly, the adoration of Padhadhooli/dust from the feet of the preceptor is capable to remove the interest in worldly matters and bondage, body and I consciousness, impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, finally it protects the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of rebirth. The worship of preceptor works as Sethubandha/bridge across the vast ocean of worldly existence. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor; whose compassionate grace is enough to destroy Shoka/grief and Moha/desires of worldly existence. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor, whose grace is enough to destroy the Mahathajjana/Avidhya, ignorance, thereby destroy the interest in worldly matters and bondage, body and I consciousness, and the impurities. I shall repeatedly prostrate before the supreme Preceptor seeking his eternal grace. Oh! Devi, the dwelling place of Guru is Kashikshethra, the Padhodhaka of Guru is the sacred river Ganga and the Preceptor is Sakshath Vishweshwara. He is Tharaka Bhramam who protects the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of repeated births and imparts the knowledge of Paramarththa. Oh! Devi, the self-less service to Guru is equivalent to Gaya, the body of Guru is equivalent to Akshaya Vatavruksha, the feet of Guru is equivalent to the Vishnupadha, and the heart surrendered to the Guru is beyond comparison. Oh! Devi, the Smarana/remembrance of Guruswaroopa, the Japa/recitation of Gurunama, and sincerely follow the instructions of Guru, and do not let the mind wander from the feet of Guru are highly propitious deeds. Oh! Devi, the fortunate Jeeva achieves the Bhrama resides on the Guruvakthra/face of a preceptor with his grace. The meditation and contemplation upon preceptor should be like the prostitute who always thinks of Parapurusha.”

Chapter - 3 – Sri Guru Gita – 21 – 30

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Varanane/beautiful-faced one, Oh! Devi, listen to me carefully, I promise you ‘Guru is Bhrama”, it is the eternal truth, and it’s difficult to hear from the three worlds. Oh! Devi, the knowledge in various Shastra, scriptures, Purana, Ithihasa, and the Manthric and Tantric hymns and rites such as Ucchadana and Mohanam/Vasheekarana, and the Shaiva, Shaktha, Agamashastra, and Sankhyaphilsophies, and various beliefs, create misapprehensions in the Jeeva, and gets drenched in the illusion, without the knowledge of ‘Guruthaththva’. Oh! Priye, without the knowledge of ‘Guru Thaththva’, the performance of Japa, Tapa, Vratha, Theertha, Yaga, Dhanam, Vedic and spiritual rites are unfruitful. Oh! Devi, without the preceptor it is impossible to achieve ‘Athmajjana’/knowledge of ‘self’ Athma is Paramathma, indestructible Purusha, and the Prakrithi/Prapancha is Mithya/illusion and destructible. The intellectuals strive to achieve the Preceptor to earn that Paramarththa Thaththva. The ignorant consider the body as Athman, due to the Avidhya/ignorance gets attached to worldly matters and bondages of impermanent nature. The very truth is that no Jeeva is free from the clutches of the Jaganmaya/illusion/destructible Prakrithi, and thereby chases after material well-being and takes pride in material matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, possession, etc. that has fleeting nature, and grow afar from the Paramarththa Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva. The ‘Guru ’/preceptor is the one who removes the ignorance/Avidhya/Maya and imparts the knowledge of that supreme Bhramam which is the essence of The universe and its living and non-living things and introduces Oneness-in-All. I shall prostrate before the lotus feet of Guru/Preceptor, who removes the Dhvandhabhava/dualities like happiness and sorrow, grace and disgrace, like and dislike, in the Jeeva. Guru removes the Thapathraya/Adhidheivika, Adhibhauthika, and Adhyathmika, of the worldly existences, and introduces the Sacchidhanandhaswaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam resides as the soul is free from afflictions, it is pure, unblemished, eternal truth, and it has neither birth nor death. The body, mind, and intellect, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas functions in the presence of that ‘Athman’, which is self-illuminating spreads its brilliance. The Guru enlightens the Jeeva with the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva and guides to cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence ultimately protect the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of repeated birth as well. Oh! Devi, I shall describe the glories of Gurupadhasevanam/worship at the lotus feet of Guru to enhance your happiness. The worship of preceptor would remove all the sins of the Jeeva, it would remove the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, and eventually the Jeeva achieves union with the supreme Bhramam. Oh! Devi, the sincere worship of preceptor, and the consumption of the Gurupadhodhaka/the water used to wash the feet of a preceptor, and Samprokshana/sprinkling of the same on the head would provide the fortune of the dip in all the holy Theerthas. Oh! Devi, the Gurupadhodhaka removes the accumulated sins in the Jeeva, it brightens the Gnanathejas/flame of wisdom, and guides the Jeeva to cross the vast ocean of worldly existence.”

Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham – Preceptor is none other than Lord Shiva

Chapter - 2 – Sri Guru Gita – 11 – 20

Devi Parvathi speaks “Oh! Devadevesha, Oh! Parathpara, Oh! Jagathguro, Oh! Pranavaswaroopa, who is always surrounded and worshiped by the Sura and Asura, I shall reverentially prostrate before you. Oh! Bhagavan, you are worshiped by the Bhrama, Vishnu, Mahendra, and deities, Oh! Bhagavan, who do you worship? Who is most venerable other than you? Oh! Prabho, I am so confused watching your practices and disciplines, I do not know the reason for it, hence kindly shower your mercy upon me, and describe the reason for the same. Oh! Bhagavan, Oh! Sarvadharmajja/knower of all the Dharma, Oh! Vrathanayaka who symbolizes austerities and Tapasya, Oh! Shambho, kindly describe the Gurumahathmya/significance of preceptor, which is highly propitious. Oh! Swamin, how did the Jeeva achieve the Bhrama Thaththvam/the knowledge of Athman/Paramathma /indestructible Purusha, and the destructible Prakrithi, and how did achieve union with the Bhrmam? Kindly impart the supreme knowledge of Bhramam, I shall repeatedly prostrate before your lotus feet.” Thus, Goddess Parvathi gracefully appealed to Lord Mahadeva, who was extremely happy listening to Devi Parvathi and began to speak.

Lord Mahadeva speaks “Oh! Devi, the knowledge of Bhramaththvam is highly confidential and it has been undisclosed always, it was not shared or taught to anyone before, I am pleased with your devotion, therefore I shall describe the splendor of Guru Mahathmya to you. Oh! Devi, you are an inseparable part of mine, hence I shall share the supreme knowledge with you. You have asked a brilliant question that provides welfare to the worlds/Lokoparaka, that was not asked previously by none. Oh! Devi, I shall remind you, the Mahathma/noble souls who have firm faith and devotion towards the deities, and preceptor would understand the highly confidential Bhrama Thaththva and Guru Mahathmya. Oh! Devi, Guru is Shiva/auspicious, the noble and auspicious souls are considered as a preceptor. Therefore, Guru is not different from Lord Shiva, Guru is Shiva, the person who has disbelief about the very idea would become a grave sinner, who had approached the wife of Gurupathni/wife of the preceptor to satiate bodily pleasure.”

Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham - Introduction

Chapter - 1 – Sri Guru Gita – 1 – 10

Sri Guru Gita comprises glorious verses praising the Preceptor in three chapters, and each chapter contains 108, 126, and 115 verses respectively, which describes the splendor of the Preceptor. The illustrious Sage Sutha Pauranika describes 1) the types of preceptor 2) who is preceptor? 3) The significance of Guru in the life of a Jeeva 4) The need for a preceptor in the life of a Jeeva 5) What are the essential qualities of a disciple? and these are highly knowledgeable to the Mumukshu who yearn to achieve liberation from the interest in worldly matters and bondage, and get freed from the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence. The Chandhokhya Upanishad affirms the necessities of the preceptor in the life of Jeeva, as “Acharyavan Purusho Veda:” /whoever achieves preceptor in their lives would earn the Paramarththa Thaththva that is the eternal truth. The Chandhokhya Upanishadh/4.9.3. says “Acharyadhyeva  Vidhya  Vidhitha  Sadhishtam Prapayathi Ithi”/The knowledge achieved from the preceptor becomes fruitful. The Maundakopanishadh/1.2.12  says “Thadh Vijjanarththam Sa Gurumevabhigaccheth Samithpani: Shrothriyam Bhramanishtam”/The Mumukshu should approach the preceptor to achieve the knowledge of Jagathkarana Bhramam, with the following, Samithpani, Bhramanishta, and willingness to listen and follow the instructions of the preceptor. Sri Adhishankaracharya in his Viveka Choodamani says “ Dhurllabham Thrayamevaithath Dheivanugraha Hethukam | Manushyathvam Mumukshuthvam Mahapurusha Samshraya: ||” /The three things are extremely rare to achieve, that can be attainable only with Deivanugraha/grace of supreme Lord 1) Manushyathvam/birth as a human 2) Mumukshuthvam/yearning to achieve liberation from the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence and 3) Mahapurushasamshraya/ the association with the Mahathma and noble souls who constantly engages in the Athmavichara.

I shall prostrate before the supreme Bramham which is beyond perception, invisible, free from Triguna/Sathvik, Rajasik and Thamasik nature, and the storehouse of virtues, it is the only source of Universe and its living and non-living things, I shall repeatedly prostrate before that supreme Bhramam.

Rishis speak “Oh! Sutha, Oh! Mahaprajja, prominent in  Nigama Agamashathra, kindly describes the splendor of the Preceptor, which is highly capable to destroy all the impurities/Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya in the Jeeva. Oh! Sutha, mere listening to the glories of the preceptor would remove the Dhehi/Jeeva from the miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence, and it is highly propitious as well. The illustrious Rishis and Sages achieved the supreme state of that Bhramam/Sarvajjathva with the knowledge achieved from the preceptor. Therefore, kindly describe that supreme knowledge of all-pervasive Bhramam which could protect the Jeeva from the vicious cycles of repeated births. Oh! Sutha, Oh! Munishreshta, kindly describe the essence of the glorious Guru Gita which is highly confidential and propitious as well, we would like to hear from you.”  The Sages and Rishis assembled before the well-known Sage Sutha Pauranika repeatedly appealed to him. Sage Sutha Pauranika was highly pleased with the nectar-like request of the Sages and began to explain enthusiastically.

Sage Sutha Pauranika speaks “Oh! Mahamune, I shall describe the highly confidential and Mathruswaroopini Guru Gita which removes the Bhavaroga/miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence, kindly listen to them carefully. It was earlier times, in the supreme abode Mount Kailash of Lord Shankara who was seated on the Vyaghracharma/skin of a leopard spread under the shade of Kalpakavriksha that was beautifully decorated with the creepers of bountiful flowers of rich fragrances were surrounded by the Rishis and Sages, Shuka Shaunakadhis.  The supreme Lord Mahadeva who always impart lessons on the Paramarththa Thaththva, was reverentially prostrated, looked admiringly by Goddess Parvathi, and began to speak.”
