Sage Upamanyu continued “ Oh! Madhava, who is capable to describe the splendor and virtues of supreme Lord Shiva whose head and foot was not able to locate by Suras ?   Even though I am incapable and have limited knowledge and limited understanding in the usage of terminology I shall put an effort to describe briefly about supreme Lord Shiva who is the personification of knowledge and wisdom, with his blessings.   It is impossible to eulogize or venerate him without his grace, it was truly his blessings I could recite some of his glories, I shall describe a few of the sacred names of Supreme Lord Shiva, who is the cause of the Universe and primordial.  Oh! Krishna, kindly listen to the sacred names of Supreme Lord Shiva who is the personification of wisdom and knowledge, provider of immense boon and cause of the Universe recited by Lord Bhrama. These are a few sacred names from the ten thousand names recited by Lord Bhrama, and these are the outcome equivalent to churning to avail superior curd.  The quintessences of these sacred names are like gold from mine, honey from flowers, and ghee from butter.  These sacred names are equivalent to Chathurveda, can be understood and memorize with great effort, it washes off all the sins of the worshipper.  Oh! Tiger among men,  kindly listen to those 1008 sacred names of Supreme Lord Shiva, who is the soul in all living beings  and has remarkable prowess, he has greatest authority on all living beings and capable to fulfill all the desires of worshipper.


Nyasam –

The Sage is Upamanyu for the 1008 sacred names of Lord Shiva, meter is Anushtup, and the principal deity is Lord  Sambha Sadashiva, Beejam is Sthirasthanu, Shakthi is Sriman Sri Vardhano Jagath, Keelakam is Devathipathi, these sacred verse are chanted to please Lord Sadashiva in order to attain his grace.

Dhyanam –

I shall prostrate before Lord Samba Sadhashiva consort of Goddess Sri  Parvathi/Parvatheesam, who is serene and decorated with various crystal bead, seated on Padmasana posture, decked in crescent moon on his matted hair lock,  he has five faces and three eyes, he carries  Trident,  Vajrayudha, Sword, Axe and Abhayahastha on right hands, he carries snake, noose, bell, fire and goad on the left.


I shall recite 'Lam' and offer supreme fragrances  to the Earth, I shall recite 'Ham' and  offer fresh alluring flowers  to the Sky, I shall recite 'Yam' and offer fumes of scented wood to the Air, I shall recite 'Ram' and offer earthen light to the Fire, I shall recite 'Vam' and offer nectar like soluble and greatest offerings to Supreme Lord Shiva.
