Sri Shiva Sahasranama Sthothram - || Uththara Bhaga: || 1 – 10

 || Jai Sriman Narayana ||

|| Om Namashivaya ||

Sage Upamanyu began to narrate to Lord Krishna   "I have praised the supreme Lord Shiva who is invisible to Lord Bhrama, deities, great Rishis and Sages with utmost faith and devotion.  He is most deserved to be worshipped and eulogized, I am extremely fortunate to remain blessed by the supreme Lord due to my intense devotion to him, he is the personification of Yagna and representation of wisdom and knowledge.  Whoever venerates him with utmost devotion and dedication, reciting the sacred names of Lord Shiva would be blessed with liberation from the cycles of birth and death.  The Rishis and deities worship the supreme Lord Shiva with utmost devotion and austerities; they chant these sacred names and satisfy him.   He is merciful to his passionate devotees, he dwells as Prana/soul in the living beings, and therefore the virtuous are devoted to him.  He is worshipped by these virtuous people with utmost devotion and dedication, they venerate him in their several births, his glories and fame are immeasurable.  He is worshipped by the virtuous people with their pious deeds, sacred hymns, mind and words, they are thoroughly immersed in his thought while in dream and awakened stage as well, while closing and opening eyes, and they spread the glories of the Supreme Lord Shiva to the people who are unaware of it.  These virtuous people keep praising Supreme Lord Shiva in several thousands of births from various wombs and remain in a state of bliss."
