Kalika is highly propitious hymns considered as superior to all hymns, it is capable to bring all kinds of
auspiciousness to the worshiper, whoever reads or listens to the sacred names
of Goddess Kalika and worship her with utmost faith and devotion would remain
unconquerable in the three worlds.
Parashurama speaks “ Oh! Deva, Oh! Paramesha, who is primordial kindly
narrate to me the highly confidential glories of Goddess Kalika, who gets
pleased without Archana/veneration,
Homam/fire sacrifices, Nyasam/without following strict rules and regulations,
or Bali/offering animals, Gandham/incense and fragrances, Pushpam/flowers,
strict preparation or daily rituals, Pranayamam/controlling breath,
Dhyanam/meditation, Bhoothavishodhanam/ablations, Japyam/recitation of hymns,
and Dhanam/Charity.”
Sri Shankara speaks “ Oh! Prajja/wise,
Oh! Bhrigu Vamsha/born in the lineage of Bhrigu, you have enquired about the
most appropriate subject which is possible to know for the greatest among the devotees, Goddess Kalika who had innumerable incarnations for the annihilation of Dhanavas, she is very fond of
consumption of blood, she has fierce form and she is fond of being eulogized,
she symbolizes eternal bliss, passion, and affluence, she is fond of
consumption of nectar, meat and blood, she dwells in the funeral grounds, she
enthusiastically dances with the spirits, she represents Yoga, she is
Yogineesha who undertakes strict Yogic practices and remains in the state of
Yoganidhra, she is Kalika who is fierce, she is beloved of Rama, sacred hymns
of Kalika is highly propitious and publicized by Goddess Kalika, Oh! Vathsa I
shall describe the glories of Kalika, it is highly confidential and superior
among the sacred texts should be recited with dedication, whoever reads or
listens to these sacred verses would be relieved from all kinds of perils and
impediments, it is full of Gadhya/prose and Padhya/poetry resembles to the
water course of sacred Ganga, it removes the gloominess instantly, it gives the
nature of servitude even to the Kings and she is eulogized by the deities, it
provides all kinds of supernatural powers to the worshiper, she is Goddess
Shakthi who represents dark hours and benevolence, Goddess Mahakali should be
placed in heart and intellect, these hymns are capable to provide liberation
from repeated births, she gets pleased and shower her grace to her children,
she worships by Veda, and Bhrama with various flowers in the celestial abode
and she gets highly pleased.”
