Sri Thulasi Kavacha Sthothram – Bhramandapuranam - Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate befor Lord Ganesha, Sri Thulasi Kavacha Sthothram is highly propitious hymn composed by Rishi Mahadeva, it has Anushtup as Chandhas, and Goddess Thulasi is presiding deity.  The glorious hymns praising the splendor of Goddess Sri Thulasi are recited to fulfil all the desires.


I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Thulasi/Sri Mahadevi who is decked in lotus flowers, I shall adorn Goddess Sri Thulasi on my head, kindly protect us, she is the protector as well as provider of fame, I shall envision Goddess sri Thulasi who has the eyes resembles to lotus flower, she is closest companion of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, kindly listen to me.  Oh! Sugandha who is highly frangrant/blue lily, kindly protect our sensory organ that detects odour, Oh! Sumukhi who has beautiful face, kindly protect our face, Oh! Shubhadha who is the provider of auspiciousness, kindly protect our tongue, Oh! Vidhyamayi who symbolizes wisdom and knowledge, kindly protect our neck, Oh! Kahlarini who represents attractive white water lily, kindly protect our upper part of shoulders, Oh! Vishnuvallabha/dearest darling of Lord Vishnu kindly protect our heart, Oh! Punyadha who is the provider of abundance of pieities, kindly protect our middle portion of the body, Oh! Saubhagyadhayini who symbolizes fortune, kindly protect our navel, Oh!  Kundalini kindly protects our reproductive organ, Oh! Naradavandhitha who is venerated by Maharishi Narada, kindly protect our thighs, Oh! Janani who is the source of Universe and its living beings, kindly protect our soul, Oh! Sakalavandhithe who is worshiped by all, kindly protect our shank, Oh! Narayanapriye who is the dearest darling of Lord Narayana kindly protect our feet, Oh! Sarvarakshini who is the protector of all, kindly protect our all body parts,  Oh! Mahahave, kindly protect us from all miseries and sorrows, difficulties and perils, fears and arguments,  Oh! Thulasi, kindly protect us during the hours of dusk and at all times.

The above are the  highly confidential and propitious hymns known as Thulasi Kavacham which is equivalent to nectar to the living beings and safest haven to the distressed people, it is capable to provide liberation from the repeated births to people who yearns for it, it provides Dhyanayoga to the fervent devotees, attractiveness to people who yearn for it, supreme knowledge to the people who desires for it, it provides wealth to poorer, it eradicates the sins of sinner, it provides abundance of grains to people who yearn for it, it provides haven for  people who desires for it, it provides cows to the people who yearn for it, it provides virtuous offspring to people who yearns for it, it provides kingdom to Kings who yearn for it, it provides peace to the people who are distressed, it provides intense devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu, she is the female force of Vishnu who dwells as soul in living beings, it is highly propitious hymns that brings Thrivargaphalam/three kinds of austerities and it brings auspiciousness to homes, whoever recites or listens to these glorious hymns seated in the woods of Thulasi would attain all that desired, it multiplies the devotion to Lord Hari, it eradicates the birth of lifeless child, causes birth of child with long life and good health, it removes barrenness of woman, whoever reads or listens to it sitting under  Ashwaththa tree would attain attractive physical features, students should recite sitting under the Palasha tree facing the sun, young maidens should recite these sacred hymns sitting in the shrine of Chandika, whoever recites or listens to this hymns sitting at home would overpower their enemies, whoever desires for wealth should recites or listens to it in the shrine of Lord Vishnu, whoever recites or listens to it sitting in the garden would attain suitable companion, ultimately it would bring all that desired by the worshiper.
