Sri Dhanvanthari Ashtoththara Shathanama Sthothram – Lyrics and meaning

I shall meditate upon Lord Hari who is personified as Dhanvanthari, he holds vessel of nectar of immortality, he is Prabhu who has initiated from the milky ocean with the pot of nectar of immortality in order to eradicate aging and death at the request of deities, he is beyond human intellect, he is incomparable, he has pleasing disposition with a beautiful smile on his lotus like face, Lord Anjjaneya attained him from the peaks of Sanjeevini, he is close associate of Vinathasutha/son of Vinatha, he submerged in the Mount Mandhara, he is Lord Vishnu who is embodied as tortoise with large body, he has beautiful attractive black curly hair locks, he has mesmerizing form which is beyond description, he showered compassionate grace on Vasuki while churning the ocean for nectar of immortality, he is extremely valorous like lion, he cures illnesses that affects memory and  heart diseases, Dhanvanthari is a personification of Lord Vishnu, he has the resemblances to fully blossomed lotus flower, he is Lord of Ayurvedha, therefore it is essential to meditate upon the lotus feet of Lord Dhanvanthari before consumption of any kind of medicines, he is youthful, he is decked in magnificent crown, he is adorned in marvelous earrings which has the symbol of  sea animal  that spreads intense luster on the fish shaped ear, he carries long stick, his neck has the shape of conch, his eyes has the resemblance to lotus flower petals, he has four hands, he is wielded in Shankha and Chakra, one hand in Varadahastha posture, he carries copper vessel full of nectar of immortality, his hands are stretched out, he is smeared in musk and sandalwood paste, he has attractive  cheeks, nose, eye brows, fingers, toes, collar bone, and great stature, he has divine limbs and great arms, he is stunningly gorgeous decked in armlets and various precious ornaments all over the body that spreads extreme luster, his fingers are decorated with various ornaments, he is extremely charming smeared in rich fragrant musk, he is adorned in fresh alluring flower garlands offered by Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, his chest is adorned in the eternal presence of Goddess Mahalakshmi, he is adorned in Vanamala/flowers made of flowers from wood, his neck is adorned in various gem decorated ornaments that spreads extreme luster in all directions, he is attired in pure silk garment, he has broad chest, he is commendable with attractive deep navel, subtle middle part, and large shank, he is spotless/pure/supreme being/, he has divine limbs and feet, he is flawless who has possed perfect limbs according to Samudhrika Shasthra, his feet nails are painted in red lac and his feet are crimson colored, he excels the beauty  of crores of Manmatha, his each and every limbs are pefect to the core, he has initiated from the milky ocean with the nectar of immortality at the appeal of deities and demons, deities were highly pleased at the appearance Lord Dhanvanthari with the pot of nectar of immortality and flowers showered upon him, he is worshiped by the clan of Gandharva, he is welcomed with the divine sounds of  Shankha and percussions, celestial Apasaras accompanied him, he is eulogized by Vikshvasena, deities, and Sanakadhis, Lord Bhrama witnessed him with a pleasing smile and great admiration, all the deities were in a state of ecstacy and reverentially bowed down before Lord Dhanvanthari, he has divine effulgence, he has supreme brilliance, all the deities were anxiously desirous of  nectar of immortality, he has emerged from the milky ocean followed by the divine sounds of drums, celestial Gandharvas sang melodious songs and Apsaras danced to the tune, in this way he was welcomed in a grand manner, he is impartial, he eradicates the severe illnesses of worldly existences, he is Mahathma who is a great illusionist disappeared with the pot nectar of immortality, instantly appeared as  Mohini who is stunningly gorgeous with auspicious features, she has most attractive movements that is capable to lure everyone and entice the whole world, she had most stunning features and she was decorated in precious gem and ornaments, she has divided deities and demons into two group, numerous deities were lined up, Dhaithyas and Dhanavas plotted against the deities to attain the nectar of immortality and surrounded them, Dhaithyendhra was completely perplexed at the mesmerizing beauty of Mohini, she broken his teeth and choped off the head of Rahu, later Rahu and Kethu was installed as illusionary planets in the Grahamandala, demons who were at a loss of nectar of immortality turned as enemies of deities, Lord Hari who  is the Lord of Lords  mounted on celestial vehicle Garuda, wielded in various weapons was eulogized by deities, Sthanu/Lord Shiva who witnessed the most enthralling form of Mohini was completed enticed by her loveliness was witnessed by Shachi, Swaha, Dikpalakas and their consorts, he is the essence of Veda and Vedantha, he is the protector of Universe and its living beings, his lotus feet are worshiped by Rajaraja, he fulfils all the desires of the worshiper, above are the glorious hundreds of sacred names of Lord Dhanvanthari, whoever reads or listens to it would be blessed with good health and happiness.
