Sri Yogavashista Saram – Jagathmithyathvam – 2 - The Bhramajjanam/knowledge of ‘self’ would remove the trepidation, miseries, and sorrows of worldly existence - Prapancha is Maya and the Athman/soul is eternal

Chapter – 1 – Sri Yogavashista Saram – 1 – 10

Sage Vashishta speaks “ Oh! Rama, the Mahathma/Jeeva achieve perfect control over sense  with the Shamadhamadhi and gets freed from the interest in worldly matters and bondage resembles the immovable Mandharachala, do not get agitated or annoyed during the hours of crisis, their mind and intellect would be serene as Ksheerasamudhra, the ignorance/Maya causes the grief and sorrows in the Jeeva. All the material matters, possession, money, people, richness, wealth and fame, have short-living nature, the attachment and interest in worldly matters and bondage of destructible nature would bring constant miseries and grief. The attributes/Vasana/Sathvik, Rajasik, Thamasik nature has the complete control over the  ‘thoughts process in the Jeeva, it reflects on the individual character as good or evil, the Samsara/worldly existence originates from the thought process of the individual, the contemplation and meditation upon the Supreme Lord would create a huge transformation in the thought process of the individual, and restrict the interest in worldly matters and bondage. Oh! Rama, the control on the attributes/Vasana and Prana, observing austerities, vows, celibacy, contemplation, and meditation would protect the Jeeva from the illusion as a result the ‘Samsarakshaya’/interest in worldly matters and bondages diminishes. The Prapancha and its infinite Nama and Roopavasthu is momentary, it has no existence, is Samsara caused out of illusion/Maya, it is the cause for grief and miseries as well. The Bhramajjanam/knowledge of ‘self’ would remove the trepidation in the Jeeva, like the rope mistaken as serpent get removed with the clear understanding of the rope. The Bhramajjanam removes the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence. The mind and intellect drenched in ignorance gets attached to the worldly matters and bondage, like a Vethala/spirit, that hurls the Jeeva into constant miseries, the knowledge of Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul would remove the illusion, eventually the thoughts initiated out of illusion would merge in the knowledge of ‘self’. Oh! Rama, the Maya is so powerful, and mysterious, hurls the Jeeva into complete destruction, is the agony disguised in happiness, it can contribute only sorrow, nothing else. Oh! Rama, it is surprising that the Bhramam is all-pervasive but difficult to perceive. The Maya is Vishwamohini/lure the heart of the Jeeva, it is pathetic that none of the Jeeva is free from the clutches of Maya. Oh! Thatha, the supreme Bhramam resides as the soul is difficult to perceive, Maya is Vichithra. Oh! Rama, the Jagath is Mithya, like the reflection of water on the desert in the sunlight, the same as the Gandharvanagari. All those Dhrishya of infinite Nama and Roopa is Mithya, hence the Jagath is Mithya. The supreme Bhrmam resides as soul/Athman, is eternal, it is indestructible Purusha, changeless, unblemished, pure, has neither birth nor death and free from afflictions. The knowledge of ‘self’/Athman resides as soul, removes the darkness of ignorance/illusion in the Jeeva, the all-pervasive Bhramam is indestructible, all those infinite Nama and Roopa Dhrishya initiated in the presence of ‘Athman’.   These infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishyas are like the reflection trees in the ponds of the mirror of Athmajjana. The Athmajjani contemplates upon that supreme Bhramam which is all-pervasive, the cause for the functioning of the mind, intellect, Chiththa, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas, etc. and gets rid of interest in the Dhrishya of infinite Nam and Roopa.”
