Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of devotion and Athmajjanam/Bhramavichara

Chapter -44 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The significance of devotion and Athmajjanam/Bhramavichara

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Ignorant, wake up! Wake up! Look at the Samsararoopi dark night, the attachment to material matters, wealth, richness, money, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, Ahamkara and Mamakara/body and I consciousness are mere lightning, it has fleeting nature, you are living in illusion, the Prakrithi is destructible nature/Kshanabangura like life on the Earth. You have drenched in the Maya/infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya, chasing after the pleasure of material matters that have impermanent nature. You are sinking in the Mriga Thrishna, you are chasing after the reflection of sunlight that gives out the appearance of water in the desert, you have mistaken the rope as a serpent and getting alarmed. The Veda and intellectuals speaking loudly about the dread caused by the nightmares that end only when the person wakes up from the dream, and the terror continues to chase the Jeeva until and unless he/she is awake. The knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva wakes up the Jeeva from Avidhya Maya, the supreme Lord reside as the soul is indestructible Purusha, and the Prakrithi/material matters and body are destructible, the soul is eternal, pure, unblemished, free from affliction and it has neither birth nor death. The accumulated Vasana/attributes of Rajasik, Sathvik, and Thamasik cause rebirth. The attachment to worldly matters and bondage hurls the Jeeva into constant miseries and ultimately to the vicious cycles of rebirth. The Paramarththa Thaththva/Athmajjana, the soul/ Athman  -  Athma is Paramathma and it is indestructible Purusha, it would destroy the Thrividha Thapa/Adhidheivik, Adhibhauthik, and Adhyathmik lessens the interest in worldly matters and bondage. Oh! Tulsi, the knowledge of all-pervasive Bhramam resides as a soul would destroy the illusion/ignorance/Avidhyamaya like deep sleep in the Jeeva, it would remove the Thrividha Thapa as well. Once, the Jeeva is out of the clutches of Avidya Maya like sleep, achieves the pure love for Sri Ramanama Japa.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Whoever achieve the grace of Lord Sri Ramachandra would get rid of Avidhya Maya like deep sleep, Oh! Jeeva, practice the constant recitation of Ramanama, cultivate intense love at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari, and get rid of impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, body and I consciousness, interest in worldly matters and bondage.  Oh! Jeeva, ponder over the Nithya Anithyavasthu/the destructible Prakrithi and the indestructible Purusha, abandon Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya and take shelter at the lotus feet of  Dheenabandhu Kripasindhu Kalyanasamudhra Sri Ramachandra and it is the command of Veda as well. Oh! Jeeva, you have been sleeping in the dark hours of Amavasya so long due to ignorance, you have soaked in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara, and you have completely forgotten the Nijaswaroopa/Athma is Paramathma in you. Oh! Jeeva, your lifetime on the Earth is ending, the morning has arrived after the long night of Amavasya like ignorance, the arrival of Jjanaroopi Surya would remove the wrong perceptions, eventually the Avidhya Maya, Vasana/attributes, Ragadhvesha would flee away from you. The Athmajjanaroopi brilliant rays of the Sun would drive away from the Rakshasaroopi Ahamkara, Mamakara, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, etc. in the Jeeva.  The pack of Papa/sins and Santhapa/grief would run away at the sight of the lotus feet of Sri Raghunatha, the Thrividhapapa would get disappear in the Premaroopi supreme brilliance of Lord Sri Ramachandra. Whoever awakens from the Mohanidhra/sleep of ignorance and desires are extremely valorous, takes up various austerities, vows, Shamadhamadhi, Sathyam, Shaucham, Dhaya, practice Athmavichara, Swadhyaya, contemplation, and meditation, etc. achieves Santhosha/bliss and Vairagya/sense of abandonment, contentment. Oh! Tulsidas, the compassionate Lord Sri Ramachandra would destroy the Thrividha Thapa of his devotees, liberate them from the vicious cycles of rebirth and provide Paramanandha/supreme bliss.”
