Chapter 203 – Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri
Ramanama Mahima - The performance of
Karma without faith and devotion to Lord Ramachandra cannot provide fruitfulness,
it would remain laborious as adding ghee on the ashes, and sprinkling water
on the desert
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind,
listen to me carefully, is there anyone kind and compassionate, most promising
as Lord Sri Ramachandra who is Sachidhanandharoopa Paramathma Parambhramam? He
is pure, eternal, changeless, free from sufferings, has neither birth nor
death resides as a soul in the Jeeva, he is the sole source of the functioning
of the mind, intellect, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas, etc. hence
ponder over the same with your four eyes/two visible and two invisible eyes of
mind and intellect. Oh! Jeeva, it is not your first birth, you have been into
different Yonis of birds, animals, reptiles, humans, Rakshasa, Devatha, etc.
you have been suffering in the Bhavatavi/dense wood of Samsara for several thousands of years, in
each birth you have been formed various relationships, drenched in Ahamkara,
Mamakara, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, and have suffered
hellish torture, you have taken pleasure in the material matters and bodily
pleasures, sadly you have neither satisfied with the relationships or wealth or
bodily pleasures nor stopped chasing for them. Oh! Ignorant, the relationships
formed in all those births, and the wealth accumulated out of selfishness and dependence
did not last for long, furthermore pushed to intense grief and agony. The
deities too clever, interested to listen singing in praise of them, and the
Karma and Dharma got corrupted due to the evilness of the Kali era. The Karma
was either performed to show off or for achieving the desired results, the
Dharma/righteousness have disappeared so long, no one has the belief in
customs, religious or spiritual rites, Veda, scriptures, no one is interested
in the practice of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya, Shamadhamadhi, austerities,
celibacy, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc. Jeevas are grown too wicked and deceitful, everyone
wants to fill their stomach in all possible ways. Oh! Jeeva, the performance of
Karma, Sadhanas, without faith and devotion to Lord Ramachandra, cannot provide
fruitfulness, it would remain laborious like adding ghee on the ashes, and
sprinkling water on the desert. The Supreme Lord Ramachandra who is eternal,
all-pervasive supreme Bhramam, most promising to the distressed and depraved
Jeeva and whose glories as sung by the Veda and scriptures are the only sources for
the welfare of the Universe and its living beings. Oh! Wicked, you haven’t
practiced worship of Lord Raghunath who reside as a soul in the Jeeva, or recited
the Tharakamanthra, you have been drenched in Mahamoha, Ahamkara, and Mamakara,
thereby chasing after the material welfare, richness, money, fame, possession,
attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion, you have forgotten to
perceive that supreme Lord who is most promising to Jeeva and the purifier of
soul. Oh! Tulsi, contemplate and meditate upon that supreme Lord Sri
Ramachandra, Kosaladheesha, the most compassionate Lord appeared before you in
the dense forest of Chitrakoot.”
