Chapter 186 – Sri Vinaya Patrika – The
benefits of Tharaka Manthra Japa – Sri Ramanama Mahima
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Tongue,
practice the ‘Ramanama’ which could remove the impurities of Kama, Krodha,
Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, Mamakara, interest in worldly
matters. Oh! Jeeva, contemplate upon the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra who gets
highly pleased with the recitation of Ramanama and thereby get rid of
sufferings and grief of Samsara. Oh! Jeeva, contemplate and meditate upon the
Supreme Lord, recite Ramanama and read his glorious legends that could remove
the Kalimala/evilness of Kali era, Shoka/grief, Sankat/troubles, etc. The
Ramanama Prabhava would make the Jeeva cross the Bhavasagara/ocean of worldly
existence effortlessly, as the mighty bridge constructed across the vast ocean
Sethu, with the huge rocks written Ramanama on it, thus helped the Vanaras and
warriors to cross the ocean. Oh! Jeeva, Lord Shambhu along with Devi, whisper
the sacred Tharaka Manthra Ramanama on the ear of the Jeeva who leave mortal
coil in the Mahashmashan/Anandhavan/Kashi thereby provide liberation from the
Samsarachakra. The hunter Balmiki recited the Ramanama in the reverse order
‘Mara Mara’ and achieved the highest status of Adhikavi, and became most
venerable. Sage Agasthya crushed the pride of Vindhyachal and dried up the
ocean Sindhu with the power of Rama Nama Japa. Oh! Tongue, take pleasure in the
continuous recitation of Ramanama, get rid of Thapathraya, impurities of Kama,
Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, and achieve
serenity of mind, and get rid of grief and sufferings of Samsara and Samsarachakra
as well."
