Chapter 179 – Sri Vinaya Patrika – The
benefits of recitation of Ramanama over Sadhanas/Yoga, Tapasya, austerities,
vow, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi etc.
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Ram,
whoever achieved your grace/Kripa is Pavithra Punyathma. The prostitute
Pingala, Gheedh Pakshiraj Jatayu, and Valmiki achieved Paramadham without any
austerities or Tapasya, did they attain knowledge in Agamashasthra and
scriptures? mere reciting your sacred name ‘Ram’ with pure love and devotion, they
have attained Paramadham Vaikunda. King Nripa who sincerely followed the
Vedokthamarga, provided an abundance of charities to twice-born, had to take
birth as a lizard and spend several thousands of years in the deep dark well,
finally achieved liberation from the touch of Lord Krishna. Oh! Prabho, the
untamed elephant Gajendra did perform any austerities? called out for your
help got relieved from suffering, you haven't waited for your celestial
vehicle, rushed to save Gajendra from the mouth of death, and got liberated. Oh!
Prabho, you have chosen to take birth in the clan of cowherd Nandhababa, leaving the Devatha, Muniganas, and fortunate twice-born, and reinstated
Dharma, destroyed the wicked like Kamsa, Shishupala, thereby reduced the burden
of the Earth. Oh! Prabho, you have refused to accept the hospitality of
Duryodhana in a stately manner, and gracefully accepted the meal offered in
the tiny house of Vidhura, and happily ate the skin of banana offered by Devi
Vidhurani with utmost love and devotion. Oh! Prabho, you have always chosen to
remain with the devotees of pure love and devotion, you have parted the
knowledge of Ananyabhakthi to Arjuna during the Warfield of Mahabharath. Oh!
Tulsidas, Lord Sri Ramachandra gets easily pleased with the sincere devotion
and pure love, the rest of the Sadhanas have momentary life, like the feel of
freshness after having a bath/wetness of the water. All the Sadhanas, Yoga, Kriyas, performed would
provide momentary benefits, or fulfills the desires, but they are not long-lasting, furthermore, it multiplies desires.”
