Chapter – 111/108- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Sharanagathi/surrender
at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, practice
the constant recitation of Sri Ramanama with intense faith at the lotus feet of
Lord Sri Hari and believe that there are no Yajja/fire sacrifices, or Vedic rites,
superior to it. The demon Hiranyakashipu did not believe in devotion to Lord
Sri Hari or Harinama Smaran, finally, he has driven afar from the Sacchidhanandhaswaroopa
Paramathma Parambhramam, and later met a tragic death in the hands of Sri Narahari/the
half lion-half man incarnation of Lord Sri Hari. Prabhu Sri Hari protected his child
devotee Prahladha from all the troubles and appeared before him at his request from
one of the pillars, hence remember that Lord Sri Hari is promising to his
devotee always, and dreadful to the wicked demons. The elephant Gajaraj,
Ganika/prostitute, Gridhraraj/Jatayu, Byadh/hunter, were taken shelter at the
lotus feet of Lord Rama and liberated from the sins and sufferings of worldly
existence as well. Oh! Mortals, the nectar-like pure love and devotion at the
lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari fill your vessel like intellect and you will see
the miracles in your life. Oh! Mortal, Devi Dhraupadhi was humiliated in the
large assembly of Kaurava, her clothes were seized by Dusshashan, she cried out
for help, ultimately remembered Lord Krishna, soon a heap of clothes appeared from
the sky to protect her from further disgrace, whenever sons of Pandu were in
danger, the compassionate Lord Sri Krishna was there to protect them, because
of their pure love and faith upon him. In the epic battle of Kurukshetra,
there were several mighty warriors like Karna, Duryodhana and his hundreds of
brothers of equivalent might, Dhronacharya, Bhishmapithamaha Shakuni, etc. were
killed, even after possessing a huge army of Narayanisena of Krishna, the Kauravas
could not win the battle, on the other hand, the Pandavas were possessed less
than the size of the army of Kauravas, even after all these, the Pandavas won
over the Kauravas because they had immense faith on Lord Krishna. Oh! Mortals,
the twice-born Ajamila abandoned the Brahminic way of life, his family, and his elderly
parents left to the woods and chose to live with a prostitute. At the death
bed, the dreadful emissaries of Lord Yama appeared before Ajamila, he cried for
his younger son ‘Narayana’, and soon the emissaries of Lord Vishnu appeared before
him and liberated him. Oh! Mortal, the recitation of the sacred names of Lord Sri
Hari has miraculous power to protect from all the miseries and grief of worldly
existence, the mere remembrance of Lord Sri Hari would do all the miracles. The
Supreme Lord Sri Hari is the source of four Purusharththa/Dharma -righteousness,
Arththa/wealth, Kama/desire, and Moksha/renunciation. He is Kalpavruksha/wish-fulfilling tree, hence leave your interest in worldly matters of fleeting
nature and contemplate and meditate upon Lord Sri Hari. Oh! Mortal, worship at
the lotus feet of Shri Gopal and take shelter in him.”
