Chapter – 73 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The practice of
devotion to cross the ocean of worldly existence
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind,
contemplate, and meditate upon Lord Govind, and get rid of interest in worldly
matters of possession, richness, fame, money, wealth, wife, children, companion,
relatives, etc. those have destructible nature, same as dreams get disrupted immediately
after the person wide awake. Leave interest in the ocean-sized infinite worldly
matters, so that it won’t hurl into three kinds of grief/Thapathraya such as
Adhidheivik/grief caused by natural calamities, famine, drought, earthquake,
flood, epidemic, etc. Adhibhauthik/ grief is caused by the attachment to
possession, wealth, money, richness, fame, children, wife, relatives,
companion, etc., and the grief caused in the absence of any of the above.
Adhyathmik/grief caused by aging, illnesses, fear of death, separation from
beloved ones, etc. Oh! Jeeva, the dualities and the results of happiness and
grief, honor and disgrace, good and bad, arrives from the ‘Prarabdha Karma’/results
of previous Karma/deeds, hence learn to accept them as it is and grow. Oh!
Jeeva, the permanent wealth is the devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari,
therefore, meditate, contemplate and sing in praise of endless glories and
virtues of Lord Sri Hari and thereby achieve an abundance of pieties like
wealth, so that it would help to cross the vast ocean of worldly
existence/Samsara Sagara, at ease.”
