Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Sri Hari, you can't bear the grief of your devotees, you are the protector from the troubles of your devotees, the moment you heard the cries of elephant Gajaraj “Adhimoola”/primeval, you rushed on your feet to protect Gajendra from the crocodile. Oh! Prabho, Veda, and Upanishads are the witnesses to your struggles to protect Pareekshith, while he was in his mother’s womb. Devi Uththara cried out and fell at your feet to protect her fetus from the ferocious Bhramasthra shot by Ashwaththama. Oh! Prabho, you have protected Devi Dhraupadi from disgrace in the large assembly of Kaurava, you have provided an abundance of clothes to cover her body. Oh! Prabho, the demon King Jarasandha imprisoned several Kings and queens, they sing in praise of your glories while living in the prison, you cannot bear your devotees in the hellish torture, you have persuaded Bhimsen to fight against Jarasandha. In the fierce fight, Bhimsen ripped off the body of Jarasandha in two equal halves and you have released all the Kings and queens from the prison. Oh! Prabho, you are always ever willing to protect the Jeeva from troubles, you cannot leave the Jeeva in hardships. Oh! Karunamaya/mercy personified, your glories are endless, and beyond description, you have incarnated as a giant tortoise, while Amritha Manthan/churning the ocean for nectar. You have assumed a beautiful young woman Mohini and served the nectar to deities, Rahu disguised as a deity and consumed the nectar of immortality, you have punished him by sieving off his head. Oh! Kripasindhu, I shall sing in praise of your countless glories, kindly protect me from the grief of worldly existence, and once again prove yourself as the ‘Pathitha Pavan’/the savior of distressed souls. Oh! Prabho, you have never let me down, or you have never abandoned me, whenever I was in distress you were there to protect me, kindly do whatever you feel appropriate now.”
