Sri Annapoornna Sahasranama Sthothram – Sri Rudrayamala Thanthram – 1- 7

Goddess Sri Parvathi prostrated before Lord Maheshvara,  Lord of Lords who is seated on the highest peak of Mount Kailash, and she earnestly appealed.

Devi speaks “ Oh! Mahaprabho who is magnanimous, I would like to listen to the glorious myths of supreme Goddess Annapoornna, who is Mahadevi, she is the source of life force for the three worlds, kindly narrate the thousands of sacred names of Goddess Sri Annapoornna.”


Lord Shiva speaks “Oh! Varanane who has lovely appearance, Oh! Jagathkarini who is the cause for Universe and its living beings, Oh! Kaulini who was born in the illustrious clan, Oh! Devi, listen to me carefully, she is supreme Goddess who is highly honorable and most venerable with the thousands of sacred names in the three worlds, and these are thousands of sacred hymns praising the splendor of Goddess Annapoornna who is the source of food grains/life force, was eulogized by the deities, I shall recite those marvelous hymns for you, it is highly propitious among the sacred hymns and it has remained highly confidential as well,  I shall narrate those auspicious hymns for you, Oh! Bhadhre who symbolizes auspiciousness, do not reveal these highly confidential hymns to wicked or deceitful or people who have no faith or belief, which would cause complete destruction, Oh! Parvathi, Oh! Kuleshvari, it should be given to sincere disciples, who have born in illustrious clan, and have intense faith and belief towards preceptor and deities.”


The thousands of sacred names of supreme Goddess Sri Annapoornna was composed by Bhagavan Rishi, it has Anushtup as Chandhass, presiding deity is Goddess Sri Annapoornna who is highly confidential, she is perceivable and non- perceivable as well, she is beyond human intellect, she has endless glorious legends, she is Bhagavathi who has personified as Goddess Annapoornna, it has Halo as bjeem, Swara as shakthi, Jeeva as Beejam, Buddhi as shakthi, Udhana as Beejam, Sushmna as Nadi, Saraswathi as Shakthi, it is recited to attain Dharma, Arththa, Kama, and Moksha.

Dhyanam –

I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Vageeshvari, who holds scriptures, she has the radiance of early hours of sun, she has the luster of thousands and millions of moon, she has large and high raised bosom, she is adorned in crescent moon on magnificent crown, she has pleasant disposition and flickering three eyes, her lotus hands showers abundance of boons, she holds prayer beads, trident, and skull, she is primeval deity, she is youthful always.
