Chapter – 14– Chanakya Neethi – 11 – 20
Rishi Chanakya speaks “The people who yearn for the destruction of the opponent, engages in praising them
relentlessly, like the way hunter traps the deer with the melodious music. It is absolutely necessary to be cautious while handling
Agni/fire, King, Preceptor, and Sthree/woman.
1) Agni, if it is handled carelessly would cause massive destruction and
the human life without Agni/fire is almost impossible, hence the fire should be
handled with great care 2) King, is considered as the Father of the subjects,
every citizen should abide by the rules and regulations of the Kingdom,
otherwise have to meet harsh punishments imposed by the King 3) Guru/preceptor,
is considered as Father of the disciple, therefore the disciple is apt to serve
the preceptor and sincerely follow his command and teachings and if not the curse of the preceptor would bring
the destruction of the clan 4)Sthree,
the houses where women are not treated with respect and humility are definite to meet its destruction. If the above-said were not handled appropriately
would cause destruction, surprisingly if any of these kept remotes would make
the life worthless, hence it should be handled and served in a proper manner. It is definite that 1)Agni/fire 2) water 3) Sthree/woman 4) wicked people 5)snake 6) and royal families, were not taken care of properly
would cause immediate death. The virtuous and righteous people live a contented
life; the person who does not have both would meet constant miseries and sorrows.
The foremost Karma of the Jeeva is to bring control over the Karma and
Gnanendhriya to achieve purity of mind that is free from Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha,
Madha and Mathshcharya. The control over the mind, words, and action would bring
serenity in life, the three types of 1) people who worries a lot, without
living in the present, 2) people who constantly brood over the past 3) people
who are anxious about the future have not lived their lives, hence it is very
important to get redundant thoughts with the practice of meditation and contemplation
upon the Lord. The people who have no control over words get troubled with
conflicts and arguments; hence it is necessary to bring control over the
words. The people who recklessly
engages in the immoral deeds are certain to meet their destruction and
undergoes severe punishments, hence the control over actions/deeds are
extremely important as the words and thoughts.
The intelligent one 1) speaks
words suitable to their nature 2) love sincerely 3) and expresses anger on the
apt to the situation. Sthree/women are
considered in three different ways by a Yogi, lover, and dog 1) The Yogi treats
the voluptuous body of the woman as a Kunapa/corpse, 2) The lover treats the
attractive body of a woman as something most admirable 3) and the dog treat the
body of a woman as a piece of meat. The intelligent people never speak out the
following 1) the Sidhdhaushdha/the medicine consumed 2) the righteous deeds
performed 3) conflicts in the family 4) physical relationship with the woman 5)
the worst meal consumed and 6) confidential matters. The Kokila patiently waits
for several years to achieve a pleasant tone to sing, until that it keeps
silence. The following things were not followed properly, would cause definite
destruction 1) Dharma/performance of righteous deeds 2) Wealth 3)
Dhanyam/grains 4) advice of the preceptor 5) and medicine. It is necessary to
abandon the association of Dhurjja/wicked and deceitful, and live in the
association of Sajjana/people who sincerely follow austerities, Sathyam,
Dhama, Shamam, Dhaya, and Shaucham, and engages in righteous deeds, the performance of
religious and spiritual rites, contemplating upon the supreme Lord, with the
constant remembrance of the impermanent nature of life on the Earth and material
comforts.”
