Chapter – 1 – Sri Yogavashista Saram – 1 – 10
Sage Vashishta speaks “ Oh! Rama, I shall describe the splendor of Jeevamuktha, Samadhi is the practice of destruction of ‘Ashathrina’/grass like desire, it is the practice of setting fire to the grass like desire with the Athmajjana, it destroys the accumulated desires of the Jeeva. The Samadhi is not the vow of silence, it is the practice of keeping away from interest in worldly matters, desires, and bondage. The Bhramavithth perceives the all-pervasive Bhramam, oneness-in-all, observe the vow of silence and remain serene contemplating upon the Athman/Bhramam. Sadha Yogi is Sakshath Parameshwara resembles the autumn moon, which is beyond comparison. The learned achieve the knowledge of Bhramam from the sacred scriptures and Upanishad, perceive the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam, remain free from miseries and grief of the worldly existence. The Bhramajjani is pure, free from the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, these Bhramajjanis are like the blazing wood fire keep the animals and living beings away from it. The Sath/Bhramajjani arouse anger in others like the ignorant/Asath put themselves to test their Guna and Karma. The Bhramajjani get rid of interest in worldly matters and bondage, but the attributes/Vasanas accumulated will not leave the Athman, like the fear instilled from witnessing the rope as a snake. The Bhramajjani will not get attached to the Karmaphala/fruits of Karma, like the crystal does not absorb the color of the object kept close to it, instead, it releases the reflection of the object. The Bhramamjjani is Antharmukha/perceive the all-pervasive Bhramam as the soul engages in the Bhahirvriththi/customary duties remain serene, free from the trepidation or anguish, like a person in the sleep. They engage the Karma, but do not get attached to it, constantly contemplate upon that all-pervasive Paramathma Parambhramam. Yogi performs the Karma contemplating upon the Adhvaitha, Anandhaghana, Paramathma Parambhramam, consider the Prapancha/Prakrithi and all those material matters, richness, possession, wealth, money, fame, and people, etc. that has fleeting nature, Prapancha, and those infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya are similar in the Swapnavastha/state of dream.”
