Chapter – 89- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The absolute truth - Death is
unpredictable, the noose of death is hanging above our head from the day of
birth
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, why
did you drive afar from the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari? Oh! Ignorant, be
mindful now onwards, slow down your interest in worldly matters, possession,
richness, fame, money, wife, children, companion, relatives, etc. of fleeting
nature, that could constantly throw you into utter miseries and sufferings. Oh! Dull-minded, death is unpredictable, the
noose of death/Lord Yama is hanging above your head from the day of birth. Oh!
Ignorant, you have wasted precious birth as a human, drenched in the physical
and material pleasure, you did not strive to achieve the knowledge of ‘self’,/Paramathma
is Jeevathma/the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam resides as the soul is eternal bliss,
pure, unblemished, free from impurities of lust, desire, ego, jealousy, pride,
Ahamkara, Mamakara, free from the dualities of happiness and sorrow, respect
and disgrace, good and evil, it has neither birth nor death, Oh! Unfortunately, your
wealth, children, wife, relatives, or companion won’t protect you from the
death bed. Finally, the unfortunate ones
leave their mortal coil in extreme agony and regret of wasting their lives on Earth, in
the absence of shedding tears of pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of
Lord Sri Hari who is Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam resides
as soul.”
