Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi concludes  “whoever recites these 1008 sacred names with utmost faith and devotion would remain unblemished and get their desires fulfilled.  I shall shower blessings on childless couple, children with lack of good fortune, people with  lack of intelligence, and  disabilities, lack of speech, distressed etc…they all will avail my blessings with the recitation of the above sacred verses.” Thus Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi/Vaishnavi affirmed the above and disappeared from the sight of Sage Sanathkumara. 



Sage Sanathkumara spoke “The deities receive their share of offerings made to fire sacrifices in the form of oblations, and whoever performs would receive the blessings, victory, affluence and their wishes will get fulfilled.  Oh! Sages, I have described the 1008 sacred names of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi that are highly propitious, kindly recite those verses and attain all that you have desired.”



Sage Gargya spoke “ Sage Sanathkumara who is most compassionate and illustrious among Yogis, blessed the 12 Sages assembled  before him and left the place after describing those  1008 sacred names of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi.  The above sacred verses are highly confidential, and it should recite with utmost devotion and dedication, and it should be recited on the days of Friday, or eighth or fourteenth or ninth day, or Pournami days, or Amavasya days, or on any auspicious days, whoever recites these sacred verses praising Goddess Mahalakshmi on regular basis would get their wishes fulfilled.”

I shall prostrate before suprme Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is the essence of Veda,she represents Srividhya,  she is the provider of happiness and welfare to her passionate devotees/kshemakarini, she is fond of being eulogized by Beejakshara/sacred syllables, she is most pleased to be venerated by reciting the Beejakshara Manthra, she is easily attainable to the virtuous people who are surrendered at her lotus feet, she has personified as Savithri who is the personification of auspiciousness, she is personified as Shodasakshari Vidhya,  she resides in the divine Sri Yanthra.  I shall prostrate before  Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, who is the provider of all the auspiciousness to her ardent devotees, she is ShivA who is beloved consort of Lord Shiva, she fulfills  all the desires of her passionate devotees who are surrendered at her lotus feet,  She is Thrayambika who has three eyes,  she  has personfied as  Gouri who has white complexion, she is Narayani who is female force of Lord Narayana. I shall reverentially prostrate before your lotus feet again and again.


Sage Sanathkumara spoke “ Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi  who is the beloved consort of Lord Vishnu, who is worshiped by Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Rudra and all deities, she has the luster of full moon, she provides enthusiasm to the deities with her serene appearance, she offers several boons and immense pleasure to those who worships her and she  removes  their sufferings and greif.”



Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi spoke “Whoever recites these sacred 1008 names with or without devotion, I shall promise to be with them till the existence of Lord Chandra, stars and galaxies.  Whoever recites the above sacred verses with utmost faith and devotion and those who are surrendered at my lotus feet, I shall remain compassionate mother to them and take good care of them day and night.  Whoever recites the sacred names of mine, even though those who does not follow any Dharma/righteousness, or does not carry out any worship of Lord Vishnu, or does not have faith or  follow austerities, they would remain safe and sound and all their desires would be fulfilled.”

I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who holds lotus flowers, Poornkumbham/golden vessel contains nectar, she holds parrot on her hands, she provides protection/Abhaya and Varadha hastha to provide boon to worshiper, she holds a gem decorated golden vessel filled with  nectar , she holds Pasham, Angusham, Shankam, Chakram, Shoolam and sword, she  holds bow, arrow, and rosary beads with Chinmudra posture, she has eighteen hands/Ashtadhashabuja, she symbolizes wealth/Lakshmi, she has eighteen glorious Peedam, she is served by Devi Bhoomi and Devi Neela, she is amiable always works   according to the wishes of her consort, she is Padma who was lotus born, she is Padmalaya who resides on the  lotus, she is Padmini who has the luster of  lotus flower, she is anointed with the sacred water from Poornakumbam, she is Indira, she has the luster of moon, she is Ksheerasagara Kanya who is attractive young woman set off from the milky ocean, she is Bhargavi who is the daughter of Sage Bhrigu, she is free to act at her own will, she enticed the Lord of the Universe, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she is supreme Goddess, she represents all female deities, she has great fame, she is divine personified resembles to   elixir of nectar, she is the provider of affluence and happiness, and luxuries of the life of an emperor , she also provides good luck  of  traveling in a palanquin and possession of numerous elephants, she provides virtuous children/Puthra, grand children/Pouthra along with wisdom/vidhya and pleasure/bhogam, she is the provider of long life/Ayur, good health/Arogyam, wealth/Sampaththi and eight kinds of auspiciousness/Ashtaishwaryam to her passionate devotees, she is the female force of Lord Parameshwara, she appears in minuscule form, she is the ultimate object of destination for all living beings, she showers  perpetual grace upon Lord Bhrama, Lord Indra and deities, she is the provider of  perpetual fortune to her ardent devotees, she symbolizes valor, she is the ultimate object and path of liberation from material existence.

I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is eternal, she is absolute truth, she is most attractive, she has personified as Sita who is the  consort of  Lord Rama, she provides immense pleasure to her devotees, she destroys  untimely and accidental deaths, she is foremost and primeval  deity, she represents cloud, she holds  divine bow Sharanga of Lord Vishnu, she is fond of devotees who are void of  three Gunas, she is close companion  of her devotees, she has personified as Mithravindha, she is perceivable for the virtuous people lives on the sacred land of Varanasi, she is worshiped by the virtuous people of Aryavartha, she is the cause of the Universe and she preserve the same and eventually destroys it at the time of deluge, she is the mother of the Universe and its living beings, she is most desirable to Lord Vishnu, She is Maheshwari who is the consort of Lord Maheshwara, she is the mother of all the worlds, she is most auspicious, she is Siddhalakshmi who provides supernatural powers, she has personified as Mahakali and  Mahalakshmi as well, she represents the five faced Lord Shiva, she resembles the Panchagni/five tongues of fire, she performs severe penance standing in the middle of blazing fire, she represents the divine Yanthra/Yanthralakshmi, she is primordial, she is supreme Goddess who is the cause for the creation of Universe and its living beings, she is flawless, she is Jagathlakshmi who is the source of wealth to the Universe, she is Jaganmatha who is the mother of  universe, she is Vishnupathni who is beloved consort of Lord Vishnu, her lotus feet is venerated by the ninety crores of Shakthis, she is adorned in various gem studded ornaments, she has supreme brilliance with various ornaments decorated on her body, she is the commander of Universe, she is supreme Goddess who represents Prapacham/Prakrithi/Universe, she resides in the supreme abode Sri Vaikundam which is also known as Vishnuloka, she is the  Empress of  Sri Vaikunda, she is the safest heaven  in the sacred city of  Sri Rangam, she is Ranganayaki who is beloved consort of Lord Ranganatha, she is Bhooputhri who was born to mother Earth, she has personified as consort of Lord Krishna, she is the consort of Lord Varada, she is worshiped and eulogized  by crores of Bhramas  and  Rudras.

My humble salutation to Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who has supreme brilliance, she is the provider of well being to heart and body, she destroys the sins committed by words, her teeth has the sparkling of crescent moon, she dwells in the Yagna arena, she is Maha Durga who remove the sorrows and grief of her passionate devotee, she has great enthusiasm, she is the female power of Lord Shiva, she is venerated by Dakinis/Goddess of divine Vishuddhi chakra, Shakini/Goddess of Mooladharachakra and Sakini.  She is worshipped by all the deities, Sages and Rishis, she has no Angusa, she is worshipped by Goddesses in six Chakra, she guides the virtuous people through the path of wisdom, she is eternal and she is all pervading, she is the cause for the function of the Universe, she is the provider of boons to the people in the Universe, she is Sarasi/dwells in the ocean, she is Manasi/dwells in the mind of virtuous, she is Hamsi/manifested in the form of Hamsa, she has marvelous form with Chinmudra, she has the brilliance of crores of Adityas, she determines the destiny of people to live happily, she removes all the evil effects on the worshipper, she is the destroyer of evil effects caused  by the changes in planetary positions, she destroys the fear caused by evil animals, she removes the diseases caused by poisons, she is serene, she is unblemished, she removes the constant unpleasant happenings in the family that is caused by the changes in planetary positions, she destroys the evil effects of Kaliyuga, She is Goddess Gauri who has fair complexion, she is incomparable, she is supreme Goddess dwells in Kolhapur, she is free from birth and death, she is Maya/great illusionist, she is Vidhya/provider of wisdom, she is the cause of the Universe and its living beings,  she is Vasavi/female force of Lord Indra, she is the female force of Lord Vishnu, she is the provider of fluency in speech,  she is the personification of wealth and happiness, she symbolize Chandass and sacred hymns, she has sparkling heart with happiness like moon, she is decked in Vanamala and Vaijayanthi made of fresh alluring flowers, she carries Panchayudha, she is attired in majestic yellow silk garments, she is adorned in Kausthubha, she is most desirable to Lord Hari.

I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is the provider of supreme knowledge and wisdom, she is omniscient, she represents past present and future, she symbolizes sound, she is the essence  of Smrithi,  she symbolizes copiousness, she has embodied as Dhathri/Universe, she symbolizes mind, body and intellect, she is attainable for the virtuous people, she has complete authority over the living beings, she is  treasure house of virtues, her long and beautiful curly hair locks which attracts the pack of honey bees, she has  profound knowledge in Bhramasuthra, she represents terminology, she has nectar like sweet voice, she resembles elixir of nectar, she symbolizes  spring season, she is Madhavi who is consort of Lord Madhava, she symbolizes all the auspiciousness,wealth, luck and fame, she has thunderous voice too, she is worshiped by Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Maheshwara, her stomach is the dwelling place of colossal fire, she is adorned in crescent moon on her crown, middle part  of the eyebrows has the radiance of sun,  galaxy dwells in her heart, she is worshiped by the stars, she has profound knowledge in astrology, she has supreme radiance, she dwells as soul in the living beings, she carries the entire Universe in her womb, she has personified as Bala/child, she resides in the divine Srichakra as Sapthavarana, she majestically rules the Universe and its living beings, she is the source of  splendor of her beloved son Kumara, she has personified as Bagalamukhi who is infinite, she is Bhramaramba who has assumed the form of Shadpadhi/ bee, she is Shivadhoothi who has Lord Shiva as her emissary, she is Shivathmika who is the soul of Lord Shiva, she resides in the greatest peaks Mount Meru and Mount Vindhyachala, she dwells in Kashmirapura, she immerses in Yoganidra/cosmic sleep, Mahanidra/sleep at the end of Yuga and Vinidra/ remains without sleep as well, she is safest haven for the virtuous, she has golden complexion, she has embodied as Mahaganga, she represents five essential elements on the Earth known as Wind, Water, Fire, Earth and Ether, she was born in the superior clan, she has great valor, she is the provider of good health, she has supreme Lord Shiva as consort, she is ShivA who symbolizes auspiciousness, she is the slayer of the demon Rakthabeeja, she restored the life of  Manmatha who was burnt into ashed by Lord Shiva.

I shall prostrate before supreme  Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is beyond description, she has numerous sacred names, she represents Upasarga, she has dazzling finger nails and strong thighs, she is flawless, she symbolizes Vedic Chants, she is visible in three postures like sitting, standing an lying, she is unwavering, she can be worshiped with  specific form and without form as well/Roopa Aroopa, she has various incarnations, she appears as Yekaroopa and Naikaroopa as well, she represents moon, she is all pervading,  she represents Vibhakthi and Vachana, she represents Swaha/consort of Lord Agni, she symbolize oblations offered to fire sacrifices, she resides on the chest of Lord Vishnu, she has great splendor,  she is not easily attainable, she is highly confidential/Guhya, she has personified as Ardhanareeshwari who attained half of the body of Lord Shiva, she is worshiped by Adishesha and Vasuki, she  is unstable therefore she keeps moving from one place to another,  she is beyond description, she is  treasure house of wealth and mercy, she removes the darkness of ignorance and  illusion of her passionate devotees, she is eulogized by Veda and scared scriptures, she symbolizes Beejakshara, she takes extreme pleasure in Vedic chants, she symbolize Fire, Earth, Water, Air, and Sky, she represents truth and wisdom, she is the provider of happiness to her worshiper, she is Bhrami who is female force of Lord Bhrama, she represents absolute Bhramam, she is a great illusionist, she represents ignorance, Prakrithi, and valor, she is the provider of true sense of awareness, she is proficient in Yoga, her face has crimson color complexion, she destroys ego and arrogance in her worshiper, she is supreme deity, she is unblemished, she is most venerable, she is fond of sincere devotion and faith, she symbolizes knowledge and wisdom, she remains infinite and finite  as well, she strides through the path of renunciation and guides her devotees through the righteous path,  she symbolizes  delusion, she has personified as Mridani and  Bhavani/ consort of Lord Shiva, she is the provider of liberation from the repeated births,  she removes  miseries and sorrows of worldly existence.
