|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

|| Shankara ||

Oh! Mortals, who has perfect control over senses is considered as virtuous, who has comprehensive knowledge in sacred scriptures and in this manner attains the knowledge of absolute Bhramam is devout act and  people who have utmost faith and dedication to learn about the supreme knowledge is considered as pious, rest of them are termed as bamboozled by illusion.  Oh! Mortals, who have achieved complete renunciation from the worldly matters, who have won over the Ragadhvesha/ Ego, jealous, desire, passion, etc… that are the enemies, who have attained the superior places in the world of Yoga and state of Samadhi, who is immersed in the study of sacred scriptures and in this manner attains the supreme knowledge which is eternal bliss, considered as a pious person living in woods, though he is at home.  Oh! Mortals, who completely forsake inferior and ordinary interests, begin to learn about absolute truth mentioned in the Upanishads with utmost faith and dedication, stay away from desires and sensual pleasures, completely abandon the interests in worldly matters and remain blissfully in solitude, they are considered as pious.  Oh! Mortal, who have the awareness about“I” and ‘mine’ are the causes for worldly bondage and remain serene in both the stages of honor and dishonor, find oneness in all the living beings, thoroughly understand the existence of Kartha/doer, and perform ones duties and responsibilities are considered as pious.  Oh! Mortals, who completely abandon the desires and conduct rigorous search through the path of liberation, consume whatever received as nectar of alms and bring perfect control over senses, ultimately find the existence of supreme brilliance and eternal bliss in their hearts in solitude is considered as pious.  Oh! Mortals, who have the awareness of the existence of absolute Bhramam which is beyond description, it is neither Sath/good or Asath/bad, it is neither colossal or minuscule, it is neither woman nor man or eunuch/Napumsaka, and who have the supreme knowledge of Bhramam is considered as pious, rest of them are termed as bamboozled by illusion.  Oh! Mortals, who have the supreme awareness about the world of Samsara which is the cause for endless miseries and grief, insignificant, utter darkness of ignorance, cause for  repeated births, death and aging,  the virtuous consider them as a transparent screen and take intense efforts to slash it with the sword of supreme knowledge, they are considered as pious.  Oh! Mortals, the pious are serene in nature, they do not let their mind wander over things, they are stable minded and gracious, they have no desires and has thorough knowledge of Athman, they remain in the constant association of illustrious Rishis and Sages who dwells in the woods and thorough knowledge about Athman/absolute Bhramam and its  form.
