Sri Gita Govinda Mahakavyam - Sri Jayadeva Ashtapadi – 22 - Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

Radharani who symbolizes Mahalakshmi and happiness was extremely delighted to witness Govinda with her flickering eyes, she shyly entered into the creeper home with the tinkling noises of marvelous anklets.  Madhava was overwhelmed with various emotions as he witnessed the lotus face of Radharani, like the enthralling waves of the ocean at the appearance full moon, Hari who was yearning for that moment was in a state of bliss and his excitement had no bounds, it was like the ocean packed with huge waves  at the appearance of full moon.  Hari playfully touched the marvelous pearl ornaments decorated on his broad chest, like the brimming waters of the Yamuna filled with foams, he was attired in marvelous yellow garments gave out the appearance of  soft and lustrous blue lotus flower drenched in the golden colored pollen.  His lovely face has the resemblance to fully blossomed lotus flower of autumn season that sport in the pond. His compassionate and most attractive sidelong glances exposed the desire for amorous sport, he was decked in magnificent earrings which multiplies the luster of his lotus face, his sweet lips that have the appearance of early hours of sun, and lustrous smile revealed the intensity of the amorous sport, his beautiful curly hair locks decked in fresh alluring flowers resembled the ray of moonlights in the sky of dark clouds, his forehead decorated with rich fragrant sandal paste gave out the appearance of pure and bright rays of the moon that eliminates darkness.  He was completely besieged with the greatness of amorous sport that causes goose bumps; he was decorated in various precious gem-studded ornaments all over his attractive body that spreads intense luster.  The above are the glorious verses composed by Sri Jayadeva depicts the manifolds of splendor of Krishna who is decked in various precious ornaments, passionate devotees who sincerely meditate upon Hari would taste their fruit of pious deeds.  After passing so much of difficulties Krishna was listening to the trembling footsteps of  Radharani, she looked at her dearest companion, her eyes were overflowing with tears of joy.  The maidens assembled were noticed the state of a divine couple tormented with the cupid arrows of Manmatha, Radharani who has the eyes resembles antelope looked at him compassionately with sidelong glances, followed with the feeling of embarrassment.  Victory to Krishna who conquered the elephant Kuvalayapeedam! Victory to the most enchanting arms decorated with the flowers of Mandhara, smeared in vermillion from the passionate sport! Victory to those powerful arms won over the wrestling with the two mighty wrestlers! Victory to Lord who is wielded in the powerful bow! Victory to Lord Krishna who has won over the demon Mura!
