Victory to Goddess Sri Chamunda ! My humble salutation to Goddess Sri Chamunda, who is all pervading, destroyer of evil
spirits/Bhoothapaharini and Kalarathri/death arrives at the dark hours. My salutation to Goddess Sri Chamunda,
who is the consort of Lord Shiva, Lord of the Universe, she is unblemished, and
Virupakshi has three curved eyes, she has colossal form and she is the
personification of wisdom & knowledge; she has pot belly and she is the
creator of illusion. She
wins over the minds of the individuals and difficult to understand, she has
huge eyes and she is easily gets angry and cools down as well. She is auspicious and most desirable
to music and dance; she has peculiar physical structures and she is the cause
for epidemic/Mahamari. She
is black complexioned/Mahakali and has dreadful appearance, she has huge
powerful arms, her existence is beyond Kala/Time, she is the remover of sins;
she has noose and weapons to punish. Oh!
Goddess Sri Chamunda, slayer of the demon Chanda ! Consort of Lord Shiva is the
embodiment of Fire, she is powerful and has sharp protruding teeth, desirable
to mount on Lord Shiva and travels on the corpse of human. She has dreadful appearance with huge
eyes and sharp protruding teeth and boisterous in nature. My salutation to Goddess Sri Kali! My
salutation to Goddess Sri Kalarathri who is insightful in all scriptures and
venerated by the deities."
The above sacred verses were eulogized by
Lord Shiva/Rudra, who was appointed as emissary to the demons Shumbha and
Nishumbha. Goddess Sri
Shakthi was pleased at heart after listening to those glorious verses and
revealed her willingness to offer any boon.
Lord Rudra spoke “
Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, I have pleased you by reciting the above sacred hymns;
you are the provider of boons and eradicates the past sins of your faithful
devotees. Whoever worships
you with utmost devotion would be blessed with virtuous sons, grandsons and
abundance of wealth. Whoever
listens to the above sacred verse would be blessed with perpetual devotion at
the lotus feet of Goddess Sri Shakthi. Whoever
venerates Goddess Sri Shakthi would get rid of all sins and attain salvation, a virtuous King who lost his glories
and Kingdom undergoes fast for three days on
Navami, Ashtami and Chathurdashi continuously for an year would regain his
glories. Goddess Sri
Shakthi authenticated that whoever reads or listens to the sacred hymns of
Goddess Sri Chamunda with utmost dedication and devotion, after having a dip in
the sacred pond in Pushkara would get rid of the sins and salvation at the
lotus feet and they resides in the Sthyaloka/Brahmaloka. Whoever has the possession of these
sacred verses will not have unknown fears or fear of theft or fire. Whoever recites these sacred verses
with faith would become desirable to all the living and non-living things in
the three worlds. The
worshiper would be blessed with virtuous offspring’s, wealth and desirable
companion, and also will have abundance of possession of precious gems, horses,
elephants and assistants to serve.
