Sri Vishnu Ashtavimshathinama Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

My humble salutation to supreme Lord Vishnu who has thousands of sacred names which provides abundance of meritorious rewards to whoever recites the same repeatedly, some of the most significant twenty eight names of Lord Keshava/who has attractive curly hair locks, and his various incarnations such as Mathsyam/protector of Veda, Koormam/while churning the milky ocean for nectar of immortality, Varaham/wild boar for retrieving the mother Earth from the clutches of demon, Janardhanam/provider of salvation, Govinda/savior of cows and destroyer of sorrows, Pundarikaksham/who has the eyes like lotus flowers, Madhavam/consort of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, Madhusoodhanam/slayer of demon Madhu, Padhmanabham/who has lotus flower on his belly, Sahasraksham/who has thousands of eyes, Vanamalim/who is decked in garlands made of flowers from woods, Halayudham/who carries the weapon plough/hala, Govardhanam/ who raised the mountain Govardhana, Hrishikesham/who has perfect control over senses,  Vaikundha/who dwells in the abode Sri Vaikundham, Purushoththamam/flawless among men, Vishwaroopam/who has magnificent colossal form which is all pervading in the Universe, Vasudevam/son of Vasudeva, unconquerable, great illusionist, Ramam who has attractive persona personified to reduce the burden of Earth, Lord Narayana/seated on the water and resting place of  all the living beings at the time of deluge, Hari/who is the destroyer of sins, Dhamodharam/who was tied into mortal pastel by Yasodha, Sridhara/who is the symbol of wealth and carries Goddess Sri on his chest, Vedanga/who is the essence of sacred Vedas and scriptures, Garudadhvajam/who has the flag that carries the symbol of Garuda/king of the birds, he is Anantha/eternal and endless, he is Krishna/dark complexioned, he is Gopala/savior of cows and cowherds. 



Whoever recites or listens to these twenty eight sacred names of Lord Vishnu would be freed from all kinds of perils, it provides abundance of meritorious rewards includes offering crores of cow as charity, performance of hundreds of Ashwamedha Yagam, and thousands of Kanyadhanam/performance of marriage of girl children to deserving bride groom.  Whoever recites the above sacred hymns during the hours of dawn, noon and dusk on the propitious days of Amavasya, Pournami and Ekadashi would be freed from all kinds of sins.
