Dhvadhashanama Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Dhivakara who has five hands, he carries holy wheel in one hand, he explores the Universe in his majestic Chariot, and he is decked in various precious ornaments, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Dhivakara to bless us.  Prathamanama  / first sacred name is Adithya/son of Devamatha Adithi, Dwitheeyanama/second is Dhivakara, Thritheeyam/ third one is Bhaskara/ provider of wisdom and cosmic energy, Chathurtham/ fourth one is Prabhakara, Panchamam/ fifth one is  Sahasramshu, Shashataschaiva/ sixth one is Thrilochana/who has three eyes, Sapthamam/seventh one is Hari, Ashtamam/eighth is Vibhavasu,  Navamam/ ninth is Dhinakara, Dhashamam/ tenth is Dhvadhashathmaka, Yekadhasham/eleventh is Thrayimoorthi and Dhvadhasham/ twelfth is Surya/remover of darkness and cause for the function of living beings.

Whoever reads or listens to the twelve sacred names of Lord Surya during the hours of early dawn would be relieved from all kinds of grief and sorrows.
