Navarathnamala Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

I shall surrender to the lotus feet of Goddess Sri Mathangi who carries the divine musical instrument Veena close to her chest, she has attractive hair locks, she dwells in Kusheshayam, she is the destroyer of wicked people, she is soaked in the elixir of nectar therefore she has beautiful gait, she is the empress of the abode of Lord Shiva who is enemy of Lord Manmatha, she is the daughter of Sage Mathanga and she has melodious voice.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Sri Mathangi who has beautiful line of teeth resemble to jasmine flower buds, she is smeared in vermilion on her large raised bosom, she has the luster of blue lily, and she is the commander-in-chief of all the living beings in the Universe.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Gauri/Aryadevi who is the personified as female parrot of the Pranava Manthra ‘Om’, she is stunning female cuckoo that explore through the pleasure garden of Upanishadh, she is female peacock in the woods of Veda.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Varadha who has beautiful long eyes that reflects compassion, she is personified as supreme preceptor, she carries divine musical instrument Veena close to her left bosom, she is the provider of various boons to her devotees, and she is the essence of Sangeetham/Music.  I shall meditate upon supreme Goddess who has the complexion of dark clouds, she is the personification of beauty, wealth and happiness, she illuminates the whole of the Universe with her radiance, she is youthful and compassionate, and her eyes are filled with passion.    I shall meditate upon Goddess Amba, who takes immense pleasure in playing Veena and express various emotions on her lotus face with a sweet smile, I shall earnestly pray to that most beautiful and blissful face to make us happy.   I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Parvathi/Shivakantha, who takes immense joy in the Sapthaswara produces in the Veena, she is serene, she is the personification of mercy, she has large raised bosom that causes little bend frontward.    I shall prostrate before Goddess Mathangi, who is decked in Palasha Thadangam that keeps dangling and constantly touches on her plait of hair on the back of neck, she takes immense pleasure in playing Veena and frequently moving her head in appreciation.   I shall prostrate before Goddess Siddha Mathangi who has the luster of Indhraneela, she is ever youthful, she is the honey bee that soaks in the nectar of lotus flower like music, and she is the daughter of Sage Mathanga.  I shall meditate upon Goddess Mathangi, who is the daughter of Sage Mathanga, she takes immense pleasure in playing Veena, her lotus face keeps moving according to the melodious tunes of the Veena like the honey bee that attracts to the lotus flower, she is compassionate, I shall meditate upon the auspicious gaze of Goddess Sri Mathangi. I shall meditate upon the beautiful form of Goddess Sri Mathangi who has attractive physical features; she is the essence of auspicious music. 


Whoever reads or listens to the Navarathnamala Sthothram which is composed as an ornament to Goddess Sri Mathangi with utmost faith and devotion would be blessed with supreme wisdom and excellence skill in speech.
