Shanaishchara who is the son of Lord Surya and younger brother to Lord Yama, I
shall prostrate before Lord Shanaishchara who was born to Devi Cchaya and Lord Marthanda, and has the
luster of lightning.

Shanaishchara who has unique bodily features, he takes immense pleasure in Jjallari Vadhya/a special kind of musical
instrument, he symbolizes wisdom and knowledge, he is approachable with wisdom
and knowledge, he is Gnani and he symbolizes treasure of supreme wisdom and
knowledge, he imparts supreme knowledge,
he eagerly observes the matters with his supreme intellect, he represents the
syllable ‘Da’, he is worshiped with the sacred hymns and sacred syllable ‘Da’, he is fond of loud
noises, he is pleased with the sounds of Dakka and Damaru/musical instrument,
he takes immense pleasure in the loud noises of Dakkanadha, he triggers the
trouble of Dakini/ female attendant of
Goddess Kali, Shakini/female attendant of Durga and evil spirits, and he
eradicates the troubles caused by them, he represents the sacred syllable of ‘Dakara’, he acts like Dambika, he gets

offerings of Till as charity.
