Sri Gopala Sthava: - Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall surrender at the lotu feet of Gopala who is the protector of Veda, he is  embodied as giant fish/Mathsya to protect the sacred Veda, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who is the preserver of Universe and its living beings, he is embodied as giant tortoise/ Koorma,  I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who eradicates the burden of Earth, he is embodied as wild boar and carried the Earth on his sharp pointed teeth, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who is promising, he is embodied as half lion – half man for his ardent devotee Prahladha, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who is the safest haven of cowherds and young maidens of cowherds of Vraja, he is personified as Vamana/dwarf and measured the whole Universe in three strides with his teeny tiny feet, in this way he crushed the pride of King Mahabali,  I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who worked for the welfare of righteous Kshathriya, he is personified as son of Sage Jamadhagni/Jamadhagnya and oblitrated the wicked Kshathriyas, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who has the valor of lion, he is personified as son of King Dhasharatha and killed the ten faced Ravana, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who takes immense pleasure in water sports in the river Kalindhi, he is personified as Balarama with the plough/Hala, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who protected the world from people  unconcerned towards accepted belief, he is personified as Budhdha and introduced principles of liberation from repeated births, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who is the protector of the Universe and its living beings, he guides us through the path of liberation, his impending incarnation as Kalki to eradicate the wicked people, I shall surrender at the lotus feet of Gopala who was tied into mortal pastel , he elevated Mount Govardhana with his little finger, whoever reads or listens or writes these sacred verses would attain the blessing of Lord Krishna, ultimately highest of the pieties known as liberation from repeated births.
