Sri Dharmashastha Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon  Maha Shastha who has beautiful heavy hair locks resembles to flowers of Kalhara and has the luster of blue lily, his marvelous face has the sheen of full moon, he is wielded in Danda, Angusha, Pasham , and trident,  he is the destroyer of enemies, he is Mahashastha who is supreme Lord, he is the son of Lord Mahadeva, he is imperishable, he carries out the functions of the Universe, he carries out the function of preservation of Universe and its living beings, he causes the deluge at the end of Kalpa, he is Parathpara, he is the protector of three worlds, he is wielded in powerful bow and arrow, he undertakes severe penances, he has large army of warriors of Bhoothaganas, he symbolizes sacred hymns and Veda, he derived from the clan of Maruth,  he is the Lord of the Universe, he  witnesses the deeds of the worlds, he is foremost, he is Sriman/illustrious, he is unfathomable, he is extremely valorous, he is supreme Lord mounted on Simha/ lion, Gaja/elephant, Haya/horse, he is wielded in various weapons, he is independent to act, he is proficient in various branches of knowledge, he has various forms, he is valorous, he is worshiped by all, he is the Lord of living beings, he is the provider of fortune, prosperity, power etc.. he undertakes the preservation of living beings, he is decked in serpents as ornaments, he carries sugarcane bow and arrows of flowers, he has marvelous form,  he is mighty Lord, he is the son of Mayadevi, he is highly honorable, he is illustrious, he is store house of virtues, he is Mahashaiva as well as Vaishnava, he worships Lord Vishnu and Maharudhra, he is beloved of remover of obstacles/Vignesha, Veerabhadhra, Bhairava and Shanmukha, he dwells on the highest peak of Mount Meru, he is surrounded by illustrious Rishis and Sages, he symbolizes Veda,  and auspiciousness, he is the Lord of the Universe, he is the Lord of Ganas, he is the Master of Ganas, he is Mahayogi who undertakes extreme Yogic practices, he is Mahamayi who is great illustionist, he is Mahajjyani who is wise/great scholar, he is eternal, he is Vedashatha who symbolizes Veda, Boothashatha who symbolizes Bhoothaganas, he is extremely valorous and he has boisterous voice, he is decorated in serpents as ornaments on his body as well as on the beautiful hair locks, he has sky as  hair, he is primeval/eternal deity, he symbolizes all Gunas/Sathvik, Rajas, and Thamasic, and he remains without properties as well, he is eternal, he is contented/pleased, he doesnot require any support system, and the whole Universe is dependent on him, he is the commander of Ganas, he symbolizes Chathushashtikala/64 art forms, he represents Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharvana Veda, he crushed the pride of Mallakasura, he represents Thrimoorthi/Trinities, he is the destroyer of demons, he represents Prakrithi, he is Purushoththama who is flawless, he is aware of past , present and future, he is omniscient, he fulfils the desires of the worshiper, his eyes has the resemblance to lotus flower petals, he resembles the great tree of  Kalpavriksha/wish fulfilling tree, he is  great tree that represents supreme wisdom and knowledge, he is the provider of fortune, wealth, prosperity, and all kinds of auspiciousness in abundance, he liberates the soul from the miseries and grief of material existence, he eradicates severe illnesses, he protects  lives, he crushes  accumulated pride in worshiper, he symbolizes all Shashthras and philosophies, he is impartial, he eradicates sins of the worshiper, he is inseparable from his consorts Pushkala and Poornna, he is Paramathman, he guides the souls through the righteous path, he has the radiance of infinite number of Adithyas, he is  younger brother to Subramanya, he is powerful, he is compassionate to his worshiper, he is supreme Lord, he is divine personified and he is most beloved of his worshiper.
